Comment:
The chem lab has these 10 minute quizzes at the beginning that are together worth around 40% of your final grade. The remaining 2 hours and 20 minutes are spent in the lab doing things that are barely worth anything. That part is easy. However, Nussbaum has a terrible attitude. She judges you when you ask for help and is very rude. Bad prof.

She definitely seems bored, understandably so. She teaches first year students, this is to be expected. Watch for bias in these comments; seems likely that the very negative ones are from those with bad grades.

she makes it VERY clear that the lab equipment is much more important than first year students. Well thanks for sprouting my growing interest in chemistry >_>

I've spoken with her once to do with LabTest - 7 - crystal structures because I'd missed the submission time. I didn't expect her to care at all about my story but she was incredibly nice. She marked what I had in my LabManual and let me write the test that afternoon. What's more is that she explained every single question I didn't get. Great!

I only had to deal with Nussbaum once. When I got to her office to schedule a make-up lab, I expected a monster. She was very nice to me but seemed kind of bored. I have also never had to deal with her re-marking any of my work. Oh, and I'll have to agree that the TA's are great! Mine was helpful, knowledgeable, and had a sense of humour.

Comment:
There were around 150 students in my summer class. The ratio were 4 retake student : 1 new student to the course. 20 day course. We had only 2 days to study atomic properties chapters but approximately 25% of the final was on that. It was extremely unfair to the new students vs the retakes. Why should we compete for chem123 with the retakes?

(yr.04-05 trm1) She was the lab instructor and was horrible. She was never in the lab and most ppl didn't even know she existed. She may re-evaluate TAs' marking and take off even more marks and is not at all helpful. She starts by warning you that she doesn't want her inbox flooded & you shouldn't email her questions. Shirking duty if you ask me.

Marks are just made up!! Nussbaum is the laboratory director but you will rarely see her. Chem labs are all coordinated by TAs. You will prob never talk or ask her questions so first years don't about the first comment be4 this one. TA's are quite nice. =
