He's a great director who makes band even more fun than it already is, and he picks great music to play. We're not out to be the best symphonic band ever - instead, we have more fun than the best symphonic band ever. He treats everyone equally and is always helpful. He tells funny stories, too.

I have never had a professor go more out of his/her way to help me! This man would do anything for me, and I would do the same for him. His attitude more than made up for the lack of "talent" in the band.... c'mon.... make an audition requirement already!
