Comment:
Tuckers lectures are not that great, as his pace is too fast for students to grasp the content. Hes been doing this for so long he thinks everyone is at the same pace. AMS grading curves suck and depend on the class, this year everyone did pretty good which skewed cutoffs a bit. HWs are annoying and aren't tested on, tests make or break u

His lectures are not easy to follow at all, hes very old so hes a little bit off. Hes constantly writing the wrong numbers on the board and students are correcting him. The lectures are recorded so I would almost always go back to watch when preparing for the exams. He just need to retire in all honesty, he was def much more effective 10 yrs ago

He is the professor who just read the content of textbook. He is teaching just for helping you prepare your tests in this class, rather than teaching for the knowledge. He is the worst professor I met in the applied math course. Just half students will attend the class. So boring.

Tests each count for 30% of your grade so if you screw up one, you've really got to work for a c. Quiz counts for 10% of grade and take home final counts for 17%. Tucker gives way too much homework to be considered weekly and the textbook is terrible. His grading scale puts more emphasis on tests which killed me in the class.

I suggest you take this class just because the content and tests are so easy. But the professor is not helpful in the office hour. His attitude is not good when I am arguing a problem which showed in the midterm. He just told me my anwser is not what he wanted rather than help me figure out where is the problem in my anwser. No patience.

The class is easy. Do homeworks and make sure you know the practice tests as they mirror the tests almost exactly. No cumulative final.

He grades based on your actual improvement. He doesn't care as much about curves and cutoffs numerically. If he sees someone come in starting at 100% and then by the end of the semester goes down to 70%'s (not trying that hard) he'll knock them down to a lower grade over someone who comes in a C-student and becomes a little better.

He is a decent professor. His homeworks are long but if you go to the review sessions and to his office hours the exams are easy. The exams are formulaic in nature. He curves the class and works with students, wants you to succeed. He isn't very good at explaining things in other ways though.

AMAZING PROF! He cares so much about his students. Go to class because he does HW probs. Go to his office hours and introduce yourself and then ask/answer questions in class and he'll LOVE you and give you extra points on tests/quizzes. He does give a lot of HW in 301 but its not that hard if you pay attention in class (303 is a lot easier)

Alan is not very good at his job. His lectures are a combination of vague strategy and literally giving you homework answers which sounds good except 1) it doesn't teach you for the tests 2) he gives A LOT of problems for WEEKLY homework that he expects you to 3) write large scrawling paragraphs on. I would not recommend his class or his lousy text

Do all the homework, go to his review sessions, and ask questions during class (he actually really likes it when students do this) or office hours when you need to. Do all this and its an easy A. Attendance is definitely not mandatory but very helpful and he also does a lot of the homework during class. Also, definitely go to the review sessions!!!

I did well in the class but can't recommend him. I had high hopes for this professor side he's so respected in his field, but he does not care about his students. He schedules personal meetings during class office hours and tells waiting students to come back another time. Also, when you do get to see him in his office, he rushes you out.

He assigned a lot of homework and the homework usually took a long time to do. His lectures were a bit confusing and sometimes I could not understand his lectures so I had to read the textbook by myself. Personally, I do not think his exams were very easy.

Interesting and somewhat challenging material. He explains the material very well in class if you pay attention (though he's even better during smaller review sessions). His actual exams are very similar to his previous exams which he provides. Doesn't try to trick you. Do the hw, it helps a lot. Great professor!

Dr. Tucker goes straight from the textbook(which he wrote). He's very clear. The class isn't easy material and he knows that. Would definitely take him again and suggest him to all.
