Maundy is a prof that expects you to work for it. But goodness I have never met a prof that cares more. He is legitimately sad when you miss a question. He writes hard exams but they're all fair. Put in the work and you will grow as an engineer in his class. Truely a prof that gets more slack than he truely deserves.

I ended up writing up to 10 pages per class of notes with him not even understanding his own material. A question asked by a student usually ends up in even more confusion and he never released midterm and quiz dates well in advance but rather a few days or a week before at most. This class gave me so much anxiety - avoid Maundy if at all possible.

Half the time he lectures I don't even know what he's actually talking about. It's like he's out of touch with reality or teaching a completely different course. Provides 0 in-class examples and expects you to be able to solve confusing questions. Absolutely terrible. I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy.

Tends to gloss over some crucial concepts. Expects students to know lots of little tricks for solving questions.

Maundy teaches this course EXACTLY how it should be taught. The material is quite large and he does his best to cover all of it comfortably in one semester. All problems for the assignments have solutions online, and he follows extremely closely to the book . Not a bad prof at all. Just students that complain when school gets hard.

Rather than getting students to understand concepts, he expects you to memorize "tricks" used in problem solving. Exams can be very difficult and very time constrained. Passing requires a lot of self study and past exam practice. You might want to attend classes, you might learn some of the "tricks" required to be able to solve his exam problems

Comment:
He breezes by class examples and he doesn't show all the steps required to solve the problem. He also goes over the "easier" content many times but then flies through the much "tougher" topics in the course, which of course is what he tests us on. He isn't very helpful in office hours either if you need help.

Yeah... So he doesn't post solutions to his finals and is not very respectful of his students. When you go in person to ask him a question, he gives vague answers, so you have to pry him open to give you a little bit more information. Wish there was another professor available to teach this class.

This course isn't hard but Maundy makes it hard. Whenever u ask a question in class, he will make fun of you so i don't even bother. Whenever he teaches an easy concept, he will repeat it a bunch of times, but when he teaches a hard concept he will fly over it without elaborating. If u want to survive, buy a chegg membership or use sombody else's.

Bad teacher. But his notes and examples coupled with the textbook, makes passing the class possible. ENEL 343 is tough regardless of who is teaching, so Maundy can't be blamed if you fail.

I didn't enjoy Maundy's class. He was not in touch with his students needs or understanding. I especially did not appreciate that he will not post solutions to past finals, but only final answers. This shows how little he cares about his students learning. I emailed him questions and got hilariously unhelpful responses. Would not recommend him.

Actually he is a very good proffessor and a really cool guy. He puts alot of effort into providing vast amounts of resources for his students to use. Im willing to bet most students who failed his final didn't make use of any of these. He often skips the math so he can do more examples which honestly is what you really want.

Maundy will lull you into a false sense of security by whizzing through many examples in shallow detail, nearly always skipping actual calculations and constantly stating that intermediate steps are "trivial" or "easy" and just writing the final answer. He tells you what kind of questions are going to be on tests, but the tests are extremely hard.

This professor is a nightmare for any engineering student at UofC. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF POSSIBLE. But since ENEL 343 is the requirement for ENEL degree at UofC, take this class with Anis Haque. Also, Maundy literally made fun of the stupids who asked "stupid" questions. T
