Not exactly the best professor. Requires way to much detail when briefing cases. Quite possibly more than any other professor taken thus far. Would recommend Monroe. Monroe knows how to teach Con Law. I feel I would have received the same grade on the exam whether or not he even showed up to "teach" Did not get moneys worth on this class.

He is a nice guy. He is ok as a teacher. I thought his lectures were good and his explaining of concepts was well done. Exam was hard and confusing though.

Not bad at explaining concepts though powerpoints were pretty useless...not a "people" person, kind of a d*ck actually, exam was ridiculous. Avoid if possible.

I had him for ConLaw I and II. He's a good prof. Exams not easy but it's conlaw - it's never easy! Just do the reading the best you can, if you're gonna be up to present in class, you can volunteer for a case you want - just email him. If you can get him, I'd recommend him.

This professor was great. People who complain about him didn't brief cases and didn't put the time into the course. I aced the class and would recommend him. He is far better than Monroe where you have to either "Agree" or "Disagree" on the issue and if you guess wrong you fail. Shafer is fair and test is comprehensive.

professor is monotone, calls on students only in alphabetical order so many students turned in their free passes because they thought that they were going to get called on. with this, no one really seemed to pay attention to lectures unless they had to or were in their area of the alphabet. this professor is very black and white, always covered all

Believe it or not,I almost collapsed during his final.God knows I was well-prepared.The worst panic attack hit me when I realized I won't be able 2 finish 2d essay on time; he just wants too many details, case names, precision in everything.Had to take a 10min break 2 get back 2 senses. It's not cool 2 suffer cardiovascular neurosis bc of con law.

Can't say that Shafer is a great professor; maybe b/c I didn't do so well in his Con Law I class, but I find him awfully attractive. Other than that, use all aids u can find to do well in his class.

Con Law I is a tough class. Shafer was doing his best explaining the material, but he pays attention to detail, which tends to confuse students. His essay questions were tough; he always throws in something that u'r likely to be clueless about. I don't recommend taking him.

I had him for con law and he is a good teacher and he really goes through the cases in detail but getting called in class is awful because he expects you to have every word in the case memorized but luckily he goes alphabetically when calling on people which makes it a little easier. Always be prepared though

Love Love LOVE this professor! One of my favorites. So impressed that, in a course which is so heavily political, he manages not to pass judgment on a particular interpretation. I memorized the answers to his exams and did great. (65/70 points).

I did well in his class. No complaints at all. His powerpoint slides are very helpful. Just make sure you know your cases names for the exam. Also, I did all of is old exams on the exam bank, and that will help you understand the structure of his essay exams.

Nice guy. Knows the law, but he moves too slow. Belabors the point. Works a rule to death but then takes no time to see it in the big picture. Tests was fair but grading was not. Perfect bell curve. 50% of class got a B-/C. Try Beery.

Never falls behind and covers the material thoroughly. Very tough grader, but the exam is fair. Always know the most recent case that he covers in class and hasn't used on an exam already b/c you will see it on your exam. Be prepared when called on and know the dissent too if there is one. Good Prof!

Fantastic professor - I really have a good grip on the constitution and its history now, as well as implications for the present and future. Don't try to fake an answer - he will spot you in a heartbeat. He wasn't an easy grader, but cripes! this is law school. Get out if you can't do the work.
