Comment:

Easy A! Each week: 1 lab, hw online (mastering chemistry), 1 short untimed quiz. Exams every 3 chapters or so (timed). Quizlet is helpful. Only used book for Periodic Table (unnecessary purchase!) Proctored ACS exam, but final is online on MasteringChemistry. He takes care of the homework portion of CH104 so I only saw him on the 1st day of class.

super good professor! very thorough in his lectures. power points are online and based off of the book almost exactly so you dont really need to read it, but showing up to class helps because he does such a good job explaining everything. gives reviews and a practice test before exams and does a whole class time worth of review before the test

Comment:

Chemistry is just a hard class in general, but with David he makes it so much easier to understand and he will always answer any questions you have. He gave my class 10 extra credit points just for cleaning our lab lockers out!

Dave is awesome. Possibly my favorite teacher ever. He cover hard subjects but explains them very well and builds in lots of supports for students to do well. I've also taken him for ch110 as well and same goes, it was hard but Dave made it enjoyable.

Comment:

Not sure why so many people say he's a difficult professor. He is very clear with his expectations and gives SO much extra credit. A&P is a difficult subject and if you're not willing to put in the work, any professor will seem "difficult." Dave will set you up for success for whatever healthcare career you choose to pursue.

Not the most inspiring lecturer, but he conveys the information well. This course takes a lot of time and effort, so don't expect to be able to do well by waiting until a week prior to exams to begin studying. Professor Canoy expects students to be mature and self-motivated and to take ownership of their academic success. Study, study, study!

VERY knowledgeable about Chemistry, but doesn't make it through lectures 80 percent of the time, and left the class hanging to fend for themselves A LOT. His grading is pretty petty: If you answer right, but he doesn't like the way you worded or illustrated he will deduct ALL points. Smart, approachable man, but VERY high expectations.

David is knowledgeable and wants his students to succeed but runs a very tough class. 80% of grade is tests & quizzes. Tests are multiple choice, label, fill in the blank, matching, & essay. If not a good test taker, I would not recommend. Tends to talk, so you find yourself running short on time for labs. LOTS of outside class time needed to study

I loved this class! Be prepared to work diligently if you want to do well! Prof. Canoy will not hand you an A. Study the lecture Power Points, make flashcards, write practice essays, and study hard for lab quizzes to earn one. I put in at least two to three hours per day, including weekends, to stay on top of the material. Canoy is fair and caring.

Fast-paced class, but if you take good notes and show up everyday its not hard to pass with a B. Good teacher, but sometimes forgets that not everyone is a chemist.

I really enjoy David, he makes what he expects out of you clear and he is very organized. He repeats himself a lot so info gets drilled into your brain and makes you participate during lecture. His test are a little hard but he prepares you well for them with clickers and a worksheet practice test. He does give extra credit maybe 30 points in total

He gives SO much extra credit. Didn't find his lecture style appealing, I felt lost in my own study time trying to connect the dots that I feel he should have connected for me within his lectures (fill in the blank power points). Unorganized study guides for exams, lab quizzes pretty straight forward. Grades quickly. Storyteller.

I wasn't sure about this professor from the other ratings but I really liked him. His lectures are from powerpoint with blanks so you follow along and are engaged. A HUGE bonus is that he grades SO fast. I just took our class final, finished around 2:30 and by 5:30 it was graded with a final overall class grade. Nice guy and helpful!

He is wonderful, very caring! very passionate about science. I could not attend all his lectures because of my schedule and I still got an A. I learned so much i kind of like biology now. He does offer extra credit in his exams and is very very understanding. I wish i could take him for B231-232. He gives a lot of homework but this is college!

As long as you attend the lectures and do the homework you'll not only pass the class but you'll understand chemistry! Chemistry has always been difficult for me but he made it accessible and built a class for his student's success. I would definitely take him again and recommend to students trying to finish their classes for the nursing program.

Lecture isn't very mandatory because his power points are online but there are blanks so I would go to lecture just to fill in the notes. Lab is mandatory and there are lab quizzes. There's extra credit on the tests and quizzes and the online homework is extra credit too! He's super nice. Taking him for 232,233

This is a tough subject, but David makes it easier to learn! If you have any questions he is always so helpful and willing to explain it in detail. He does offer extra credit. I would highly suggest taking advantage of the extra credit, it helps boost your grade and better prepares you for the tests! David is an amazing teacher!

awesome dude. super nice. david does a great job at teaching the material. tests, homework, and worksheets are graded and returned in a very timely fashion. he really cares about the class. i highly recommend taking his class. plenty of extra credit ops. i hope i can get into his A and P class fall term.

Super nice guy! If you ever have questions, he'll make sure you understand before moving on. He is a little monotone so it can make it hard to focus when you have his 8:30am lecture. Tests aren't too difficult if you study. Overall a great class and he does an excellent job teaching the material.
