Overall, a very good professor. He cares a lot about his students' future success, so he makes P-chem very challenging to ensure that the only way to do well in the class is to study a lot. Homework and tests are hard, but the class is MUCH easier if you attend his weekly problem solving sessions and work through past quizzes/exams posted online!

Great professor. Hes always open for questions at anytime. Hard exams but I guarantee you that you will master the material. I would rather get B with him than an A with any other professors. Also, he cares about students understanding material. I would highly recommend him and will take him for any other class. and he curves the exams.

Dr. Dolson is one of the best, if not the best, chemistry professors at WSU. Yes, his classes are difficult but you walk out of his class knowing the material extremely well. He is always more than willing to answer any questions and has an open office policy. He is always kind and wants his students to learn. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Had to curve all of his tests and quizzes and any professor that has to do that is obviously a bad professor who doesn't care about doing his job. During tests, it wasn't uncommon to see or hear about students crying. Gave out his projection for final grades in the class and the majority of the students are getting F's, D's, and C's.

First day of class he boasted about only having 16 out of his 50 students the quarter before pass his course with d's and c's while the rest failed. Homework is impossible to get right with the very little information given in his lectures. Wright State really needs a new Physical Chemistry professor.

He does his job above and beyond: he offers personal time to hold review sections before each exam, and cares about students' success not only in this class, but also in their future career. Now the question is: as a student, do you do your job above and beyond? This include reading the book ahead of lecture, practice homework, take good notes!

Dolson is one of the best chemistry profesers I've had. He is old school and there is no extra credit, although he curves exams sometimes (only about 1point) Old exams are always posted online and his office hours are extreemly helpful, always holds review sessions before exams. He wants everyone to do great, but make sure you wrok hard.

Comment:
Dr. Dolson is a very nice man, and very willing to help students outside of class. The problem is that he has very poor communication skills. His written assignments are next to incomprehensible and his lectures are like hearing a text book read out loud. He also has very high expectations of his student's abilities. The worst part is that he is the only professor that teaches physical chemistry, so if you can't adapt to his "teaching style" then you're pretty much out of luck.

I did NOT like this professor. If you have any trouble with chemistry (which i do) DO NOT take this class. He is rude and condescending and really doesn't seem to care at all how well students do. He actually mocked me for not knowing a question. For the practice quiz he gave us before exam 3, it was NOTHING like the exam, causing us all to fail.

Dr. Dolson is excellent. His tests are very fair and he posts old exams for students to review. He held review sessions before exams on his own time. Though he seems intimidating, he really welcomes questions and is not condescending. Two thumbs up!!

He is a super helpful professor. He did a lot of review sessions on his own time. He also has past exams posted online for the the first three tests and notes online for the first two. He trys to help you grow a a student. After this class you really understand the subject well. Study though!

One of my favorite professors, regardless of discipline. Be aware before taking his class: he's old fashioned. He expects a high level of performance from his students, but he is committed to offering the assistance necessary to back those expectations up. He offers review sessions--outside of class, on his own time--before every exam.

Offers weekend review sessions, in your best interest to attend. First three tests are fairly easy if you study. However, fourth test was too long and the class average was a D, with 6 additional points. Final exam wasn't too difficult if you knew the material from the first four tests. His personality, however, awful.

Dr. Dolson is a great prof. Some people said that he was a bad lecturer, but I thought differently. The last two chapters can be hard, but he tells you what you need to be able to do to get a A. He is very helpful and nice. Go to his office hours; he is really helpful and explains why you are learning what you are learning.

Worst professor I have ever had in my life! His lectures were unorganized. He is a brilliant man but was unable to teach the course for what it was.... a 100-level course. Dolson killed my love for chemistry. I am a straight A student that failed his class. If you value your life, stay as far away as possible!

Overall, a terrible professor. He seems to care more about appearing intelligent than helping anyone. Hours of studying do not help, no matter how smart you are. His exams are incredibly difficult, with every question being a trick. He also refuses to curve at all, which doesn't help much.

avoid! avoid! avoid! if you want to learn, understand, and continue to take other classes do not take this man. all you learn is what a bad professor it. he is rude, condescending, and if you dont understand, his suggestion is drop the class. His tests are ridiculous for a 100 series and his lectures do not prepare you at all. lucky to get a B/C...

Dr. Dolson stepped in to teach this class after Dr. Bombick became ill. Overall, his tests are impossible. He does seem to want his students do well.. He's just too smart to teach a 100-level class. Avoid at all costs if you wish to save your GPA; take if you need to get a good mastery of chemistry and are willing to take a C.
