I had her for ancient world history, and the class was at 9:30 so I barely paid attention. Class does drag on - she lectures off of powerpoints, and doesn't post them which can be annoying. Just print the outlines and research the terms before exams and you will be fine. A presentation, 10 pg essay, and midterm + final and she allows 2 skips.

By far the worst professor I've had, never heard of a 50% final. You really have to pay attention in class which is not a problem but hard to follow. There's no powerpoint or anything on blackboard, there are outlines that you need to print out before class. Being petty about little things. I'd never take her ever again.

Dr. Nguyen is very smart but this class is not for slacker students. However, it was not hard due to her mistakes. It's hard if you're not prepared, so if you don't go to class and take detailed notes you'll get lost. Tests will be hard if not prepared. Start the paper EARLY do not wait. Two tests and a paper only so they are weighted very heavily.

Very good teacher. She knows her topic inside and out. There are only a few graded things, a paper and a final, but the quizzes are extra credit quizzes which go towards your final point total. As long as you pay attention and do a through job on the TWO assignments then you should end with a high grade.

Great professor, has vast knowledge on history, knows exactly what she's talking about. She can be cynical at times which is honestly really funny. Does not take well to lying or BS. There was also a 12 page paper chicago style but it was easy as long as you actually read the books that were assigned.

Prof. Nguyen knows her history and material very well; expect to take notes. Skipping class won't help, and she will ask questions to keep you on your toes. Before a test, she will give a list of questions (5 or 6) then only ask 3 of them as essay questions on the test itself; definition questions are easily answered if you've taken good notes.

She has a strict attendance policy and calls on people randomly throughout class. The grade is made up of a few exams and a 5-page paper, but she goes over every question on the exam beforehand and tells you how she grades it so if you actually study you'll do well. If you want an easy A don't take this class, but if you're willing to work take it.

Interesting person...I did okay only because I did what was asked of me, however for a GenEd I don't think many people want to devote their time reading a 200+ page book on the only female emperor of China, not to mention memorizing like 30+ key terms for exams, etc. I wouldn't recommend her even though I liked her. Class isn't set up for ease.

I really enjoyed Third World Hist Thru Films. It was an engaging class and Prof Nguyen was charming. She is a bit hard to understand at first, but then you get used to her accent. She also expects you to pull your own weight, so don't expect to hand in anything late. Overall fun and challenging class.

Challenging but fair. Dr. Nguyen's knowledge on the subject matter is incredibly vast. She demands alot from her students but is always willing to lend a helping hand if one cannot grasp the material in it's entirety. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not the class to take. She'll, at times, cold call to keep her students on her toes.

Gives very general lectures for specific tests which accounted for 75% of the total grade. If she asks you a question, chances are she'll ask you something she didn't go over in a previous class.

The only serious history teacher I've had at Temple. She has a lot to teach you and does a thorough job of it. Go to office hours and ask her about Vietnam, she has a wealth of knowledge to draw on that Americans are never exposed to and wants to educate. She doesn't take kindly to BS.

Coming from a student who dedicates a lot of time to his studies. Avoid taking her at all costs. Lectures are not focused and fail to cover the material on both of her exams. She doesn't help students become better... she instead overwhelms them by leaving them to figure out the subject on their own. Overall a disappointing experience.

Hard to understand her accent at first. NEVER take her in a night class. half the class is sleeping and dozing off, and so was I. Gives WRITING exams, and only 3. 2 worth 25% each and final worth 50%. Did not like the way class was taught and how if she didnt like your answer to a question she would take off points. I would not take her again!

Her class is not structured very well and she jumps from topic to topic and is unorganized. She plays favorites and picks on students-never a useful tool for student esteem and development. She is not interested in aiding struggling students.

It took me the first few weeks to get past her accent, but past that it runs pretty smooth. We basically did a certain area per week with decent powerpoints to follow along. To get and A you must read over the books, but you could skim along and pass just with the notes in class.

Nguyen is SO sweet! I really loved her and was entertained be her stories of blown apart fish and retarted pesants! She is not an easy A, but there are many grading opportunities, 2 quizzes, 2 book reviews and a final. She is willing to help out students who are confused. Her accent takes a little getting used to but it quickly becomes sweetandfunny

She was a pretty good teacher. her only problem was that she didn't give many opportunities to boost your grade 2 book reviews, midterm, and final, that's all.
