Probably the worst class I have ever taken. Hardest class this semester by far. Online class has a group project where you have to create, on a google doc, an hour long podcast as a group and perform it. Lots of reading and super picky grader. Stifles creativity in essays, gives little to no feedback on canvas. Rude with any feedback she does give.

I think she was awesome. If you're willing to put original thought and voice into your work you will do well. She's super sweet and really loves what she teaches. I think she gives great feedback and does a great job with reminders and explanations. If you need help with assignments she's very prompt with responses and willing to help you succeed.

I took her literature class online and it was awful! Explanations for assignments were extremely unclear and vague. Whenever I tried to email her with questions she was never helpful and extremely sarcastic. The final project was incredibly frustrating and had multiple parts that all made absolutely no sense!! Tough grader and a frustrating class.

I did not really like her all that much. She a tough grader. the class was mostly discussions and quizzes and a create a module project as the "final". It is not an easy A.

Professor Hirsh is absolutely sublime! If you get the chance to take one of her classes, DO IT! Her course was a breeze, and her lectures were engaging and fun! I would definitely recommend her to anyone, and I would certainly take her again! Great learning experience and an easy A/B!!!!

Dr. Hirsch's class helped me learn to think critically. Looking back, I think her class effected most as a student and as a person at USF. Dr. Hirschs classes left me very well prepared for graduate level studies and helped me develop a critical way of thinking and problem solving that have helped me in my professional career as well.

This professor is extremely rude and sarcastic and makes this course unnecessarily difficult. I never know what she is looking for on the papers and get no guidance. Always B's never an A. Also, if you disagree or say something different than what her opinion is she marks you down and is rude. Worst class and worst subject in four years.

I have never wrote a review on here in the last four years at USF. This professor is rude and unhelpful. Her online class is overwhelming, and the assignments are unclear. She grades completely unfair off of her own opinions. Stay clear of this class if you can!

In my honest opinion, I would NEVER take this woman again. She is VERY intelligent and cares very much about literature; that's it. She did not seem to care for her students at all. She was rude, demeaning, and one's opinion did not matter unless it matched EXACTLY what it is that she was thinking. This was just my experience though.

I took Dr. Hirsh for 3 different classes in undergraduate and came to think of her as something of a mentor. She can be one of the most influential professors you'll ever have if you're a Lit major, but don't underestimate her. I never got an A in her classes. Always B's. She's very tough.

She was very rude and sarcastic. In group discussions, if you didn't say exactly what she was thinking, she made you feel stupid. She had an overall demeanor of snobbery. I would not recommend her.

She's not accommodating at all. If a relative dies (as was my case), she replies "that is why you have the 3 forgiven absences." She grades ridiculously tough on the exams and doesn't explain why you received the grade. I made B's on everything in the class and received a C for the final grade, and she didn't explain to me how that added up.

Decent teacher, very smart, not always intelligent enough to help students understand what she's thinking. Quizzes are easy, based on readings, 2 exams that are textual analysis's with very tough grading. Biweekly blogs, participation and other little things are easy. Guaranteed B at the least.

Best Literature teacher I've ever had at any school. Teaches what she wants because she likes it and is willing to go outside the guidelines of the time period if it will help her students. The class was Brit Lit 1900-45 and we read the Hours, written sometime in 2000. Terrible book, but helped us understand Mrs. Dalloway better. Take this teacher!

I really enjoyed Dr. Hirsh. You do have to actually read the material to keep up and her class will be quite enjoyable if you come prepared. She's big on group discussion. Participation is highly encouraged. She's extremely intelligent and well versed. I found her to be quite likeable had had no difficulty sitting in her class for 3 hours a night.

This was by far my favorite college course! I loved the works we studied and I loved the way she taught. I learned SO MUCH from her. She is brilliant, inspiring, and her lectures are very thought-provoking and insightful. She is very nice but expects a lot out of the class and can get frustrated if no one is participating. I highly recommend!
