There was tons of reading to the class and while Medieval Civ doesn't greatly interest me, she still found ways of making it fun. And in the end the thing I was most worried about doing, a big research paper, ended up being a great accomplishment. She has a unique perspective, is very approachable and kind.

Ellen was my FYI adviser and I kept her as my history adviser. She is very sweet and smart, but disorganized. I got my papers back in a timely manner. Very comfortable to talk to and she is always willing to help!

My first impressions were bad. I didn't get her and I thought she was kind of silly, but after I went to her with a problem one time I realized the depth of her knowledge. She is very helpful and accommodating.

Ellen is a wonderful professor. She has encyclopedic knowledge of her field (medieval history, with an emphasis on books and visions) but is willing to admit she does not know something. She is supportive and, yes, a little disorganized (though it ends up rather charming, I think).
