Comment:

Many quizzes that have nothing to do with the content learned. More of a politics class than English. Very unhelpful when asking questions. Gives you advice to fix your work and even when you do what he advises still gives you a bad grade.

This professor asks a lot from students. At one point during my semester I was writing multiple papers at once along with two discussion posts a week. This was a frustrating class and professor to take with being a full time worker and having other class as well.

This professor does not explain anything well at all. Hes not specific in anything he gives out. You ask for advice and hed give you a vague answer. He grades his papers very hard. Would never take his class again.

Comment:

Professor Harris is a good teacher for those that want to learn. His homework was not that hard if you took the time to do the reading assigned. He is political, which is fine. I would take him again if I needed to, at least I learned something new about politics and was challenged to think. Gave excellent feedback on all papers turned it.

It's hard to describe how boring this guy is. He can't seem to finish a sentence and keeps changing ideas for papers and grades. Nobody in our class was happy or ever wanted to see him again. Hard to understand how he keeps his job with how ineffective he is.

Worst professor I have ever had. He grades super hard does not give good instructions at all. I had to correct one paper many times and each time he would make up something new for me to correct. So once I was finished with my paper I had my cousin who has a ENGLISH DEGREE look at it and fix it and he still gave me a horrible grade on it.

Do not take Engl 102 if you are looking to learn how to write or even read. You will do TONS of work but it will all be around politics. The way he will grade you will be based on whether or not your beliefs line up with his.

Comment:

He does not give good instructions for the assignments. Do not expect a rubric for essays, as he doesnt do that. Also, beware to those taking english 102- it is EXTREMELY political, with him making it very clear what his political beliefs are. There isnt a whole lot of developing writing skills, its more or less learning about politics.

He is incredibly boring and doesnt try to make the already boring class more interesting. He isnt clear about instructions and grades hard. I do not recommend taking his class, especially if argumentative writing isnt your thing.

Worst professor I have had. Drags lectures outs beyond their needs. A 1.5 hour class can be summed up in 20 minutes if he didnt drag sentences out. Super hard to get a clear direction for papers. No good structure to the class and he always cancels. We missed 7 classes total in a LATE START class.

Professor Harris is a nice guy with a relatively easy class. The only complaint I have was each of our essays were political/current events related and that just isn't my specialty. Generally, he has a hard time getting his words out in lectures so they're long with not so much content. Easy quizzes and a few essays were all we were graded on

I would not recommend this professor to anyone. He isn't clear about the directions at all. Prepare to not have any of your questions answered. After explaining what he wants you to fix on the essay, it will never be good enough to pass. This professor makes it extremely hard to be successful in class. Makes me feel as if I don't even speak english

Knowledgeable, politically oriented, a little confusing some times. If you are looking for an easy A, this is the wrong professor. Get ready to work HARD, he gives feedback ONE STEEP at the time, I edited my essays several times. Just like any other professor, if you demonstrate willingness to learn he will be helpful. I learned a lot.

Harris is a horrible professor. When grading papers he is NOT clear or even helpful. He will tell you to fix things but then grade you even harder and add MORE things to fix when he could have added it all from the get go. He didn't even reach out to tell ANYONE their grade (or even post it on blackboard) the entire semester. Take someone else.

Trying to be nice... but he is not a good professor. Lectures are completely pointless and you can tell he's only talking to take up time. You ask him one simple question about a paper & will go on a rant about completely different topics and leaves you more confused than before. I've always 4.0'd English & ended w a 3.5.
