Excellent Professor. Detail oriented. The lab works on LPC are easy. The material content involves a good amount of math. Can expect good grades if you do above average in the class. Easy to get A.

Tough class, and while his lectures are fairly clear, sometimes the lecture material didn't correlate very well to what was on the exams. Labs were also fairly difficult, especially if you had no experience with soldering. Sample code online was fine. Approachable and helpful with questions, lenient with extensions, overall nice guy.

This class is a waste of time in my opinion. He doesn't really push concepts beyond that of the prerequisites and the labs are so unorganized that you progress extremely slowly as a class. Overall I think this class needs a major restructuring because I would rather not take a course where I already know everything.

Average class. You will end up learning few concepts about device drivers and interfacing. He will force us to buy his development board. Getting a good grade is very simple. Just concentrate in the class. He will ask the same questions discussed in the class.

Not a good class. Students take his course only for the grades. He will teach very few topics and won't go in deep. Majority of the time you'll spend on soldering and lab reports. Not a productive class at all.

He's a nice guy, but a bad lecturer. Lab goals are poorly defined, quizzes and tests are worded awkwardly, he often makes mistakes and contradicts himself. Course material was written over a decade ago and never updated since. A better instructor could have made this a great class instead of a mediocre one. Prepare to be disappointed and confused.

Very fun class. You'll make toys. Many facts and numbers in lecture; a good memory will serve you well. For each lab, you will use your brain to figure out how to build something. Lab 1 takes the longest, but following labs can be done under an hour. Invest many hours on each lab report (e.g. format, detail). Reports demonstrate your understanding.

Most disappointed with this professor took all the courses he teaches not because he is the best but only because we have only one professor who handles embedded courses.You learn three different things and you perfect in none. Stared with Android --> OpenGL ---> OpenCL i absolutely dont recommend this prof. sorry to say

Not relevant in today's teaching. Teaches concepts I learned in high school (not just me a few other students as well). His exams are difficult only due to the fact he does not allow datasheets or notes. What real engineer does not have access to internet these days? He wants us to memorize most mundane things. Not the way to train an engineer

He is the only professor for embedded systems at SJSU. But I would not recommend him (like many others) to be taught under him. I took 3 classes. All specialization classes under him.He is very unclear about the course content and extremely traditional approach in teaching.Over all 2/5.

I earned both my BS&MS CMPE degrees from SJSU. Prof Li is the only Embedded Sys prof in the MS CMPE program and he is terrible. In the undergrad program, you will learn much more MODERN technology. Harry Li is stuck in the 1990s. You will learn obsolete tech from his non-practicle labs. He is single handedly bringing down the SJSU MS CMPE program.

His development board is obsolete by 10+ years. If you have no prior experience in embedded systems, you will still have no experience in embedded systems after his class. His required IEEE format is more important than the actual content. Very bad experience overall. What a complete joke.

One of the best professor in SJSU. I don't agree with the student who say he is not good while teaching 242. One has to put the effort to understand the subject. Very helpful with projects and always open to new ideas.I highly recommend his class(242,244,245).

Do not take him for CmpE 242. Not a very good professor. His dev boards are faulty. He will spend a lot on linear algebra instead of teaching you what is required. I wish I took this class with another teacher.

He is the worse professor I have ever had at SJSU. He grades unfairly and teaches you things that are not part of the class. Worse of all, he makes up use dev boards from his company that include pirated software in the cd. His IEEE Reports are a joke! He doesn't care about what you write up, he only cares about the format.

One of the best cmpe professor. really smart guy. The class is easy. every monday a quiz. the labs are super easy, if you have all the tool ands parts you will spend less than an hour on each lab. LABS are very important because on test and FINAL he will ask question from the labs; for ex draw squematics, etc. CLASS is EASY!! buy the parts at HSC.
