Jones is my absolute FAVORITE PROF OF ALL TIME. Brilliant, funny, can be sometimes hard to follow but is totally accessible at office hours. He is kind of old school, you need to take notes and ask questions. He was nice enough to put up PDFs of his book online in the library. Very deep intellectual stimulation if you are up for it.

Comment:
This class was miserable. He basically just tells you why believing in God will bring meaning into your life and the lack of God will bring misery. He is shoving views down your throat. He means well, but I was very pissed off sitting in his class. Plus I was disappointed the class was more philosophy and theory than religion. Take with discretion.

Longest three hours ever of him rambling through the lecture. Repeats himself a lot. He does stop and answer questions, but he can be rude if you interrupt or don't quite grasp the content. Tests are nothing like the lecture. Really complicated, and there is no given grading scale so you have no idea how you're doing in the class.

Avoid this professor. Anything you write in the class is considered "too general", and he is quite incomprehensible. "Brief" essays were considered 8-10 pages, and he was never satisfied. On the first round of essays, everybody received a C+ (not exaggerating). Literally everyone. I'm sorry, but there are definitely better professors than this one.

issues in religious thought: do not take this; it is basically this man rambling about religious philosophers for three hours. He is repetitive and hard to understand and the tests barely apply to lecture. He has an attitude and tries to act so smart. this class was ahuge waste of my time and hurt my brain.

Class is only good if you are interested in it. Makes you think deeply, but tests may be a little bit tricky. He's a nice guy though and knows his stuff.

RUDEST PERSON EVER!!!!!! HE IS NOT POLITE AND FEELS THAT THE WORLD OWES HIM SOMETHING. HE NEEDS TO GET OFF HIS HIGH HORSE AND REALIZE THAT BEING A PROFESSOR DOES NOT MAKE YOU A GOD.

He lectures his students as if he is reading his research to his own colleagues. He doesn't connect with students while he lectures; you'll be like an audience member at an academic conference rather than a student in a class. Although, he does throughly answers questions that are asked. "Eurdite" and "distant" describe him well as a lecturer.

Hated his class-He drones on and on and has an extremely unclear syllabus, doesnt really even tell u the exams in advance. i couldnt follow his lectures at all because his language is so inflated and boring. class could have been so much more. this was the first time ratemyprof failed me, this guy was terrible! stear clear if u want a decent grade.

Pretty good teacher. The material was only boring because the lecture was 3 hours long. I think smaller doses of the class would have helped. But he gives you some real, valuable things to think about. Tests were a little too tricky though, semi-unfair. Overall, good prof.

There are three exams. Nothing esle. You have to write notes down while he talks. Uses very big words. He's very hard to follow and monotone. The material isn't very interesting. The books don't help. But its cool just to read them. I would not recommend this class.

Have taken a few classes, enjoyed them all. He is very open to new ideas from students and very helpful but you must make a real effort, he is hard to catch most of the time so use office hours. Absolutely brilliant! Appreciates student input and encourages it, beware, he is a bit scatter brained.

His name is Dr. Jones but he looks exactly like the actor Donald Sutherland. Very approachable and a cool guy if you get to know him. His class however can be slightly challenging.
