Comment:
Professor Calavita is a really nice man and I know he loves what he does.; however, he is somewhat loud and very repetitive. The class was very easy; however I often got annoyed with him repeating himself multiple times and constantly saying the same thing over and over again. There were two quizzes and the rest of your grade is the final project.

Marco is not an easy professor but he is a good professor. The amount I learned in his class is incredible and I did not always realise how much I was learning. There was a lot of reading and viewing that was never discussed but could end up on a quiz or test. The two exams required lots of studying but we were prepared for them in a way.

Marco is honestly one of the most dedicated communications teachers I've had. He is always willing to help you do your best and keep you connected with the right people. He is a tough grader and usually never gives a lot of assignments so it becomes a little difficult when your grade depends on one paper and a bunch of little quizzes, in the end.

Marco is one of the best teachers you could ever have, especially if you are serious about going into journalism or any other form of media. He will challenge you to do better than you think you can do, which is what college is for. If you want to do well, pay attention, participate, and work hard. He is fantastic!

Marco could be a good teacher but he never let's you have your own opinion but instead he's always got to be right. He tells you to think for yourself but then never let's you talk. Also, he's a terrible advisor. Just once I'd like to hear him say that he changed his mind after listening to others but he's always got to be right.

Terrible teacher. All he does is talk at the class, and when someone tries to share their opinion he either disregards it, or loudly interrupts and talks over them to disagree or discredit their opinion. He also frequently uses offensive language but creates an unfriendly environment so students are unwilling to call him out.

This class was kind of boring, but easy. There are mini quizzes, but no tests. He does have a final paper that you must do well on...You also have to go to class cuz he passes the papers out randomly and that's how he figures out who is there or not.

This was a good class but it was 4 hours long and I was ready to go out of my mind because he will keep you there for all 4 hours and doesn't stop talking. However, he is really funny and loves what he does so it makes it an interesting class. Make sure to participate and do well on the projects he assigns. They are pretty easy.

Marco assigns a lot of work, no question about it. But if you do the reading and pay attention in class, it's an easy A. Marco is one of those teachers that doesn't assign busy work - everything has meaning and he really wants you to do well in the class and in life. Put time and effort into the work and you'll get much more than a good grade.

Marco is great. He makes himself available to students, which is refreshing compared to most professors. In 202 he is extremely passionate about the content. People complain about how he doesn't give A's. If you try hard and engage yourself, you shouldn't have a problem. TAKE HIM FOR SENIOR SEM! AVOID LITLE AT ALL COSTS!

Marco is very enthusiastic. The only problem I have with him is his tough grading, but other than that he is a great professor. He is very active in the classroom. He made the class laugh on a daily basis with his expressions. Overall I feel I have learned a lot in his class but it's a ridiculous amount of work and can be stressful.

One of the best teachers I have had but very tough. If you are looking for an easy A, he is not that kind of teacher. You have a lot of hw each week. Tons of reading & at least 2 movies u have to watch, usually. Always willing to help, gives pop quizzes that aren't too hard if u did the reading/viewing. Tests are hard, he expects A LOT!

His classes were the nuts and bolts of what I actually learned in COMS. The man is schooled in mass com theory. He chose text books that were WAY over my head initially, and broke it down so I eventually started connecting the dots. If I ever pursue a masters in communications, I'll have Marco to thank for it.

I'm surprised to see Marco get a "terrible" rating. Not an easy A, for sure, but one of the best teachers ever. Great lectures, interesting topics. I learned a lot about how to analyze media, which is a great skill. He does sometimes cut people off, but I think he is just trying to encourage debate & expects you to back up your opinion with facts.

terrible class. he is a very selfish teacher. he goes off on tangents just to get the idiot girls to laugh at him, he tests us on the minutia and useless jargon of the readings and not the concepts, and he discourages people from disagreeing by talking LOUDLY over them. he was one of the most obnoxious teachers i have ever had

Nice, but very tough. You have at least 50 pgs of reading due every week, most of which is stiff and boring stuff. In addition to the text, you have at least 3 hours of required viewing as well. My advice is to not fall behind or you are toast. Don't skip class either because you will be lost the next class session.
