Janet is an amazing professor, she genuinely cares about all of her students and is understanding of students personal issues/workload. There is a LOT of reading in this class, but in the Hutchins program, that's to be expected. Janet DOES notice if you aren't in class. Finally, Janet really notices if you try, if you put in effort you'll get a A.

Comment:

One of the nicest teachers I've ever had. She truly values everyone's opinions and never makes anyone feel stupid- even if they get information wrong. Paper is due every week but they're fun to write because it's about your opinions on the books. A lot of books but most were really interesting. So caring, respectful and gives great feedback. Love!

One of the best teachers I have ever had. If you do the work, you get an A. She is fun, inspirational and super down to earth. She is extremely intelligent and has a lot of fantastic views on life. I was in a one-credit class that Janet had never taught before. She didn't really know what direction to go in and as a class we thought some of her ideas were outdated. That being said, she was always friendly, and involved. She also cancelled about half the classes which was awesome for us, but she never let us know ahead of time.

Janet is one of the most enthusiastic teachers that is still left in teaching. She is flexible, care so much about her students and always want to share her passion with you. she is one of the teacher that does not want any of her students to not pass, so she will try everything to help you as long as you try too. Janet was an amazing teacher. She grades on improvement and trust me even if you an F on the first test (which you won't) you'll be fine. She is so funny and always keeps you interested even if you don't care, at all. She is amazing and such a nice person. She is a little bit of a busy bee but GO TO OFFICE HOURS, EVEN JUST TO SAY HELLO! TAKE HER!!!

What a wonderful teacher and human being. Janet knows her stuff and loves her students. She's a little to lenient for her own good, I think, but that tends to not be a problem for students. LOVE LOVE LOVE her and LOVE LOVE LOVE her Unblocking Creativity class.

I took Janet's libs 320C class over the summer and she is a fun and enthusiastic teacher. She expects everyone to participate in discussion, but she does show a genuine interest in your ideas. She definitely will empower you to make a difference in the world. The only thing I noticed that did bother her though, is being on-time to class.

Good teacher! She does assign lots of books. 10 books were needed for my African class. You can get those books at the library. In the beginning of the course she had us reading 300 page books in a week. She likes to critique your witting too. Turning in HW late is okay. She wants all her students to talk in class.

Janet is a wonderful teacher. She is always giving construction criticism and really boosting my confidence. She is fun and encouraging and always gives me a reason to come to her class. She is theatrical and exciting and makes learning fun. She is very educated, esp. in African Art. I definitely recommend her to everyone. I love Janet!

I sincerely dislike this professor. First off, she plays favorites which is no way to run a class. She is extremely disorganized and loopy. She has no class and rude to students. If she likes you then you're in luck. If not...beware, she will stop at nothing until you are humiliated. She is brilliant but can't convey that in conversation.

I didn't really get much out of my class with her, she was absent most of the time and when she was in class she had no idea what to do that day and was generally unprepared. As a person she seems great, as a professor- not so great.
