Really learned a lot in this class. Mostly focuses on regex processing and web scraping with perl, python, and ruby. Lectures are a little dry but the assignments are great. Would take a 2nd level of this course!

Chung is a really good choice as a professor for any CS class. You do have to show up and listen to what he says, but as long as you pay attention, it's easy. He not only cares about the students but is willing to tell you whats wrong with your code if you go to him in his office hours. He's somewhat monotone and introverted, but you'll like him.

Professor Chung is an introvert but overall a good professor. He lectures for half of class and then lets you complete a lab for the other half. His lectures are quite monotone however helpful and clear. Fall asleep and wake in time for the lab and be just fine. Never calls on random people. If you complete lab/lecture early you're free to go.

Class was very easy since every test was open book, notes, and internet. He gives HW every now and then and assigns reading in the book every so often, but it is not really needed since he goes over everything in class. Only downside is that his class can get a bit boring, but overall it is an easy grade and he is helpful.

Dr. Chung is one of the best professors. He teaches the material in a way which everyone can understand and there is reinforcement to assure that you understand what he teaches. All of his tests are open book and open computer which practically guarantees you an A if you have common sense. While doing all of this, you will learn a ton. Take him!

Scripting languages is the easiest class I've ever taken (in college or high school). Open-internet quizzes are realistic I guess, but come on. He's funny, knowledgeable, and helpful, but class is boring and monotonous. Exercises consist of mindlessly copying code from the projector. I say take him -- if you genuinely want to learn, you will.

Nice guy.. but not a good teacher. Does not keep the class interested and taught me nothing. If you want to waste your time taking a class that you will get nothing out of take him.

Wonderful approach to teaching. Gives you the material you need, but ultimately its your responsibility to learn the subject matter. Tests and quizzes are open notes/internet, which is realistic because in the real world all of these things are available to you. You actually learn from the labs and HWs. Show up and do your work and its an easy A.

Prof. Chung roxx0rz. The tests/quizzes are cake and he practically gives you everything you need for all your programs. He is a million times better than Johnsgard. Plus you operate right out of an IDE so you don't have to memorize a bunch of stupid VI commands. Plus he rocks the hell outta UNIX.

Awesome professor, awesome class. The lectures can be a bit boring at times, but you actually administer a unix system. There is no better way to learn how to admin. than to do it!

Very knowledgable about Unix, though I am quickly finding that even his knowledge has limits. He is very helpful, but expects you to ultimately take responsibility for your own learning (There is nothing wrong with this). His tests are of moderate difficulty for someone without prior experience.
