This guy is the best! Do not buy a text book before the first day of class because he will most likely tell you to get an earlier edition to save money. I took him for a workshop class as well as a poetry class and can honestly say you will love any course you take with him. If you show up youll get an A.

Johnson is the best professor I have ever had at Eastern. He's an understanding person. Great to talk to about life. Also sincerely cares about all of his students. Do not be afraid to approach him if the class gets hard. He will go out of his way to help you. He wants you to succeed! Also textbook required but many got away with using SparkNotes.

Johnson gives daily one question quizzes on the reading as attendance. Lots of reading some nights. Other than him being soooo unorganized, he is a really down to earth guy. Super excited about literature. He took the time to learn everyone's names and more. Awesome professor. Would take again.

He had a segment on Keats in my intro lit class. I choked up when Keats died and we bonded over it. I'm hoping to take one of his classes winter quarter. He's charismatic and definitely loves his field.

Johnson made such an impact on me. His lectures were very captivating and it felt like he introduced the information in a way that could speak to all sorts of people. I fell in love with poetry with his help and I would easily suggest this class. If you do the reading and are focused in class, I assure you'll get something out of it.

Working with Jonathan was THE best experience I had at EWU. He treats his students as intelligent peers. He loves literature and you find yourself soaking in that passion. This isn't a class, this is artistic collaboration. It's why I went to college.

Jonathan is the best thing since sliced bread. His workshop classes are so fun, if VERY long (he never ever ends early). I learned so much in fiction workshop. He is really nice and will go the extra mile to help a student out. It is easy to succeed in his class if you care. Even if you don't, just talk once in while and be considerate to others.

I loved him! he is a great teacher! he really loves teaching, and made the class a lot of fun! attendance is mandatory, because he gives really easy quizzes every day. as long as you read what you were supposed to you will do fine!! He is probably my favorite teacher!! very heelpful!:)

Few others have used a dry erase board to such great effect in teaching Homer, Dante and even Lewis and Clark. He goes the extra two miles and always plays tennis with the net up.

WOW!!! Johnson is such an awesome professor, he made my first quarter at Eastern totally worth it. He really takes to time to get to know the students and to help them learn the material. Watch out though: not a lot of assignments given, so you really gotta pay attention.
