Don't take this class if you're not willing to be open-minded or think critically. That being said, the subject matter was, for me, interesting enough that it didn't feel like a lot of work. Julie, overall, is amazingly kind and takes care to make sure that her students are comfortable, no matter what their opinion is. She's quirky, fun, and smart.

Work hard on your essays and participate in class, then this course will be okay. Shes not clear on what she wants and this was consistent through everyone I talked to about their grades on essays; I suggest to go to her office hours and figure it out and how to achieve it so you wont fail. Shes really nice, though and I learned a lot.

Julie is thorough with the information given. As an intro class, it's difficult, but that's b/c she expects you to work diligently. She's always happy to help you and learn more about her students during office hours. If you're lazy, don't take the class. It was hard, but I learned a TON in her class, so if you want to learn something, take her!

I enjoyed Dr. Haught. She taught the material well. If you don't enjoy literature (or lazy), don't take the class. Her papers are difficult, but she makes you work hard. Visit during office hours, it will help your grade because she gets to know you better as a person and student. She's tough, but if you want to learn something, take her!

She will mark you wrong on opinion based questions if your views are not exactly like hers. The class literally promotes hatred of the majority, and tries poorly to justify it.

Julie is a nice and funny professor. With that being said, in my opinion, for an intro to Literature class I think she grades too hard which can be discouraging.

Julie is the worst prof I have ever had. She is an extremely tough grader, especially for an introductory course. Her guidelines for the essays are not clear and she gives little to no feedback. She gave me a D on the first essay because I used too many sources! Also will ridicule your opinion even if she asked for it. Not open to others' opinions.

If you are lazy and uninterested in WS then you wont enjoy Julies class. Otherwise, i highly recommend. She is incredibly wise and her classes have helped me grow as a student. I have the utmost respect for Julie. She remains very objective and open to all students views. I wish i could have taken more classes with her.

Julie is a wonderful professor and always keeps her classes interesting. While her classes and assignments are very challenging, she is always willing to help you out if you ask. Participation is important for your grade, so make sure to always come to class prepared and ready to contribute. I have never regretted taking one of her classes!

I wouldn't recommend taking this class to anyone. You get 3 absences and after that every absence is 3% off your final grade so if you skip more then 3 then you're pretty much screwed. Super tough grader and is very specific about everything. Participation counts if you don't participate in class discussions you won't do well.

Julie is awful... if you don't care about WS classes DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! She grades unreasonable hard, very opinionated, makes up her own definitions because normal definitions don't relate to WS. She is also an English teacher so your paper "will never be capable of a 100%". It's not even possible to get a 100% in participation.

Julie expects you to come to class prepared everyday ready to participate, and you have to participate to pass. The readings she assigns are long and pretty boring. The in class assignments are challenging and you don't get much time to do them. She made me more interested in women studies. Don't take this class if you're looking for an easy A.

Julie always carefully articulates what she says and runs class in a very discussion-oriented manner. She certainly makes you work for your grade so don't expect to just breeze through. Julie is very insightful and is willing to help anyone who asks. By working hard and actively listening/participating in class, I benefited greatly from this class.

Julie is tough but really wonderful. She knows her stuff and if you pay attention and work hard in the class you will learn a lot, and your grade reflects your effort. I thought I bombed the final assignment though I worked my butt off and I got a B, which looking back I feel I deserved. V cool old lady!

Julie Haught is a harsh grader for a 2000 level course. Her lectures are long and not passionate. I felt patronized whenever speaking to her. She expects a lot, and she doesn't give any leeway. I'm an AB student, and I received a C in her course. For an LGBT Studies course, I never felt like that class was a safe space. Do not recommend this prof.

Julie is a smart woman, but has a hard time relaying that information to her students. Her lectures are long and boring; half the class stopped showing up very early in the semester. Notorious for assigning in-class writings that are worth up to 100 points. She expects these to be written in 10-15 minutes. Avoid Julie if all possible.

Julie Haught is one of the better professors I've had in my college career. She really makes you interested in the topics and has a clear passion for her profession. Considering it is an English class, there is quite a bit of reading involved as well as essay and writing exercises. I would definitely recommend her & take a class of hers again.

Julie is a very good professor who explains everything in great detail. There is a lot of reading and in class discussions based on readings. You have to attend class to really understand what is going on though. Overall she is willing to help with any issues and is pretty flexible if you communicate with her. Would recommend her for the WS class
