As an Accounting major I had Dr. Pierce for many accounting classes from the basics all the way to advanced classes like Income Tax. She is sweet and tries so hard to make her students understand. She is stern about deadlines and is willing to help the students who put effort in. You won't get a better accounting professor than her.

Had her for several courses including Principles of Accounting (281), Tax, VITA, and Governmental Accounting. She is a really nice lady who cares about her students. She has decent lectures and if you are willing to do the work & show up she will be more than willing to help you out. In tax I had around an 86-87 after my final and she gave me an A.

I would say the class is about average with regard to difficulty. As long as you read through the chapters you should be fine. You will be expected to complete an individual tax return and small business tax return. The professor gives extra credit so a bad test grade doesn't completely destroy your grade.

Exams are over each chapter, given two chapters over a couple days (so you can study and take one exam, then study and take the other one). Prof posts lectures; however, I find using youtube faster to find specific instruction on a concept.

One of the few profs who posts lectures! Also, great help via discussion board (maybe a little slow - don't wait for last minute to start homework). Although the course work was sometimes difficult, she does give bonus problems/points throughout the whole course.

Nice teacher, will work with you if you need help understanding the material. Tests are difficult though, so be prepared. However, all homework is graded on if you completed it not on accuracy, easy grade there. No quizzes and the test are every two chapters. It was a challenging class but I suppose its unavoidable.

The class was really different from financial accounting but she broke it up and only tested over two chapters at a time so it was easy to understand. Homework was outlined in the syllabus and there were no quizzes so no surprises. I really like the class.

Had her for 281 and it was real easy then took her again for 282 and i almost dropped the class. The material is real hard and she doesnt explain it really well. Doesnt curve or help your grade in anyway, just one extra credit assignment worth 5 points.

Shes terrible. So hard to understand and she speaks good english. Homework assignments are nothing like what is on the exam and if you ask her for help she explains it the same way over and over so if you didnt get it the first time your not gona get it at all.

Karen Pierce is the best accounting teacher I've ever had. She made sure that we understood things and thoroughly practiced them before we had to be tested on them. I wish all of my teachers could be like her. The college experience would feel much more rewarding. Take her classes if she ever comes back.
