Comment:
Dr. Caric was not a terrible professor, but I feel that he made the class much harder than all the other FYS classes. There were multiple essays and readings almost every night. He is not a very hard grader, but I would not recommend if you're looking for an easy class to fill the FYS credit.

Do NOT take this professor. He makes no sense in his lectures, which is every class. He tries to make discussions but often rejects dissenting arguments. He doesn't ask clear questions or give clear feedback in assignments. It's easy to get an A if you act confident in your answers, whether it's BS or not. The readings are only needed for writing.

INCREDIBLE professor. If you listen, he will teach you. Read, engage, think, and follow his directions . . . you'll be smarter and a better student by the end. I wish education was filled with professors like him.

I had this professor this past semester in FYS. There were readings every night. Although i didn't read much I still did pretty decent on the tests. He hardly gives out written assignments but will definitely help on them. I personally enjoyed having him in class, he was a character and always says hello when he sees me out. pretty easy, passed A

Good teacher, can be really social outside of class. Just make sure you do the readings, and you'll be fine.

This is an okay class. It's easy, but the work load can get ridiculous. Dr. Caric is alright, not my favorite but I do like him. The class is easy if you show up and do the reading.

Dr. Caric is a really great professor. You do not have regular exams in this class; you read books and write essays. He gives pop quizzes on attendance, so go to class. He gives you options on many things and does not speak non-stop the entire class hour. He asks questions and has discussions with you and is very intelligent. I enjoyed this class.

I took Caric for FYS and almost fell asleep everyday. He likes participation and it was a fairly easy class. Not the greatest professor I've ever had, definitely not the worst either. He gets off topic a lot, also be prepared to read lots of old books and poems that no one reads anymore.

Caric is very faithful to what he believes. He will push you to speak up and to support what you do or what you don't believe. I believe this is one of the better FYS classes over "power truth and love". On your papers, he will always let you turn in a rough draft, fix your mistakes and turn it in for better grade. He appreciates hard work.

Caric is absolutely horrible. He didn't start out that way, but if you have any viewpoints opposing his, he will screw your grade over until you conform. He says he only grades papers according to his viewpoint, and not the student's, and God forbid you do something he doesnt like, he just might hold a grudge.

AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd advise everyone and anyone not to take any of his courses. This class was HARD and he excepts WAY to much from you especially from a first seminar class! I can not wait to for the semester to end just because of this class; which should be a very easy one.

Unprofessional, condescending, unfocused, horrible speaker. He can't seem to wrap his mind around the idea that his class isn't the only one you're taking; the workload is ridiculous. Most irrelevant, banal approach imaginable to what could have been an interesting class.

Possibly the most unorganized man I've ever met. Constantly going off on tangents irrelevant to the topic at hand, jumps to conclusions, suggests radical notions that are laughable at best, if not worse.

Terrible professor. He was sloppy and inconsistent in his assignments and his grading. He does not provide helpful feedback and he assigns immense loads of work for gen-ed classes. Overall a potentially interesting class turned into an utterly miserable one.

To prospective Honors students: Caric is a fixture of the program, and this is a problem. He really, really does seem to care a tremendous amount about the program, but he's totally clueless about how to handle the Honors classes. He's sloppy, asks vague questions, and assigns more work in a 200-level gen ed course than senior level major courses.

Caric is hard but really makes you think. He does use the bible as research material. But the bible is something that is referenced and used a huge about in everyday life and so there is no reason it shouldn't be looked at in an academic setting. He plays devils advocate but it really gave a different perspective that made me think.

Caric is one of the best professors I have ever had. He truly knows what he is talking about. If you go to him he is very helpful. He does talk about atheism but it is a refreshing alternative view point. The class was challenging but I feel like I got a lot out of it.
