honestly thought this class would be easier. she's not an easy grader. the class consists of 3 tests, research paper, presentation all of which are unnecessarily graded hard. there's no way of getting the slides for review which made studying difficult. if you fail to follow a requirement at it's fullest (like references) you're marked down a ton.

She is an awful professor. She doesn't upload slides in fear of students skipping class or cheating. But the slides are really vague and unorganized anyway which counters the tests which require extensive explanations. The other assignments weren't too bad but for a GE class, it was more stressful than it should have been.

Professor Cahill is afraid of student's 'cheating' or skipping class, which is why she does not post her PowerPoint slides on Canvas. All of the course material is learned in class, and tests are oddly extensive. Throughout the semester, there were points where students corrected her on some biased historical viewpoints. Cool subject, strange class

She is a really tough grader. Also is not very clear about what she wants out of each assignment. Even though there are directions with each assignment they are too vague to understand sometimes. You might think you did ok on an assignment but grade says otherwise. As others mentioned you there is no way to look back at slides to study from test.

Easy prof, didn't really do much and still got an A-, the minus because I skipped two of her assignments. The hardest part is doing the 12 hours of community service but that's easy. Only bad thing about her is that she's very left-leaning and projects her opinions to the students very often. Everything is in her packet, so attendance isn't mando.

I like listening to her stories! I took her for my ones a week class in Nutrition-its a 3 hour class but it was never been boring because of her stories. I learn a lot from her class.

Cahill is a tough grader. She expects a lot for a class that people are taking for an upper GE class. She doesnt have a textbook but has printed slides that doesnt match what she presents. Test are multiple choice, short answer, and an essay. There is a project that requires 12 hours of community service. Easy class, just plenty of work.

She was possibly one of the worst teachers I have taken here at SJSU. She has terrible lectures that are vague, she doesn't upload her slides, her tests are open ended and she grades off of her opinion on the topic, not facts. She's a really tough grader and its tough to get an A. I think I lost knowledge on food culture after her class, don't take

Lectures are optional. Lectures based on reader w/ all her slides printed in it. 1 big service learning project where you pick a place from her list to do 12 hrs volunteer work & write a paper about it. Seriously, just study off her reader and don't show up to class. Easy A.

Sometimes she's all over the place. First project was research which she never went over and expect you to know how to read research article data. Slides are unorganized. Tends to speak really fast. Topics covered are interesting. 12 hours are mandatory of service project. Go to class or you'll be lost because not all the material is on the slides.

Class was boring because she makes you buy a reader w/ all her slides printed in it. I'd rather take the notes myself than just sit & listen the entire time so it does get mundane. But, easy class. You have 1 big service learning project where you pick a place from her list to do 12 hrs volunteer work & write a paper about it. Overall, easy pass.

i loved this class, i had it at night time but i loved spending my evening here because she made it a lot of fun to learn. we had really interesting class discussions and she was super enthusiastic about the lectures which made it super fun. Tests are easy as long as you write down all the notes and concepts and study from it.

About 5 video responses and she gave us full credit as long as we did it. 4 exams total which were tough in my opinion. 10hr service project. 1 research paper and a few short papers. I thought her explanation on the research paper was poor. I haven't written one or taken a 100w class so I struggled with it. Grade based on exams and paper

Material seems like common sense but exams are HARD! Really hard to get an A. Makes you elaborate too much on exams. Exams are short answersshort essays. No multiple choice. One 10 min presentation. Research paper. 14 journals. I wouldn't recommend this class if you are looking for an A.

Incredibly rude and unhelpful. Ask her a question and she will be extremely annoyed at you and refuse to help you. She is passionate about the subject which is a good thing but the tests are difficult and she doesn't seem to adjust her tests despite students failing her exams. Thinks everyone should know the subject as well as she does. Avoid!!

Cahill is very passionate about this class. The 10 hour volunteer learning project is the only hard thing about this class (its not even hard to do). All the assignments are easy and she is a fair grader. Pay attention in class, write down what she says and you will do fine. She is also approachable if you have a question after class.

She is extremely rude and condescending. Would not recommend taking her by any means. When you ask questions or want to see her during office hours she acts annoyed. Her tests are impossible to get A's on. She goes off topic, I honestly learned close to nothing in this class. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!

I took this course during Summer. It was pretty easy. Her lectures are straightforward and her exams/quizzes are usually EXACTLY what she lectured. No text book. Readings are online. She will not tell you what is on the tests, you must memorize the whole lecture. Required ppt. presentation and one paper. She is very passionate about the subject.

Avoid this teacher at all costs! I was excited to take this class and got an A, but she is very lazy and not helpful with questions. She disregards students who have ideas that conflict with hers. Her exams are open note, short answer but are NOT subjective. She justifies marking points off of subjective exams questions b/c she grades on a curve.
