He isn't helpful in class, tells someone they're wrong, and then proves exactly what the person had said. It is ridiculous. Speaking with him in office hours is just as confusing. He doesn't help and he doesn't explain anything no matter how many questions you may ask.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. No one in the class knows what's going on. I asked him to speak up because I didn't hear what he said. He yelled at me to pay attention and then started to speak more quietly. He interrupts people mid word to tell then they are stupid and shouldn't be a physics or engineering major. Hes a horrible person. DO NOT TAKE

Genius at math, but he doesn't know how to explain concepts well. He doesn't understand that there are people out there who are confused by the material, and there are times where he's made me feel guilty for not understanding something. He does not help, and he just doesn't seem to care about his students. Very poor professor. Highly disappointed.

Very smart, but doesn't convey the material well. When you ask questions, he is surprised that you don't understand the material and is condescending. Doesn't comprehend that its hard material (Calculus). No help when you are confused with material. Not very interested in or concerned with students grades or personal progress. Very disconnected.

Very smart, but a terrible teacher. He's not great at explaining hard concepts, probably because he's so smart and understands. He talks softly and is difficult to understand. Is awful at giving grades back and gives no feedback. Would not recommend.

Never seen a Maths problem he could not solve. I wish if his class was a bit more interactive, but it is not his fault. Many of us students do not read ahead so we can participate in these classes, and these are rigorous courses by nature, and so you need rigorous Professors ad Dr. Ravi is awesome. At first I was shocked by Professor Ravishankar's teaching style. After all, most Professors don't teach like this, and so it was not too easy to make adjustment to Professor Ravishankar's teaching style. Professor Ravishankar could easily been teaching at anyone of the Ivy League Universities. He is brilliant, knowledgeable, witty, a fair grader, and Suny New Paltz is lucky to have him. Even if you don't get an "A" in his class, you would have learn far more than if you had gotten an "A" in a lot of other classes. Thank You Professor Ravi.

Prof. Ravishankar is pretty impatient and not very clear either. But if you're patient with him and ask a lot of questions, he'll help you out. He can be rude sometimes, but that's only if you disrespect him, which a lot of students seem to do. Don't take this class if you rely on a lot of explanation.

Awful teacher. WOrst teacher ever. Not willing to help you at all. The textbook is the teacher and he is a real jerk. He teaches very unclearly, but it turns out to be a moderately easy class because: After each test he allowed us to hand in the correct answers to our test and he would give us HALF the points we lost back. So if you got a 40 on a test and handed in corrections, you'd get a 70! It's a pretty freaking sweet deal.

Is Ravishankar a good or bad teacher? Everyone failed the exam. Class average below 40s. He had to give a retake exam to cover up the awful grades of the first exam. He also hates when someone shows up to his office hours. I let you decide now.

It was the first time I had to drop a class baucause Mr. Ravishankar is one of the worst prfessors I have seen at New Paltz. He does not explain anything well, nobody understands him, and he is very sarcastic. I have a 3.2 GPA and I got an A in Calc 3 with another teacher who knows the subject.
