At first Avillo is pretty intimidating at first but once you get to know her she's a great person to talk to. She's strict with her rules but that's because she's professional. Just make sure you're on time for class and just contribute in class and she will really like you. There aren't tests, just quizzes on 2 or 3 chapters each with 25 questions

Professor Avillo does seem a little scary at first..but she is wonderful! Her class was fairly easy. Makes notes available to print out online and follows them exactly in class. Quizes are about once every two weeks, but as long as you go over the packet before hand you'll be fine!

Although intimidating at first, it is important to let her know that you are not afraid of her and are not afraid to ask her questions. She will respect you if u take the initiative to ask questions and participate. Do not be afraid to see her in her office or e-mail her. Not an easy prof, demands perfection, but w/ hard work a 4.0 is attainable

Avillo is definately hard! I think she is harder on others b/c she wants to make you a stronger person. Some of her tactics aren't very nice sometimes. In clinicals, she is tough & intimidating. She expects you to know your stuff & apply it to your patients. Be prepared! Go to her office for help b/c she is really nice & is very willing to help.

Ok, this is for all you new nursing students.. she is *hard*, but trust me she is just trying to make you better. This class is the weed-out class, if you can't pass this then give it up because nursing isn't for you. If you ever have a chance to see her out of class, you'll be amazed. She's very nice and caring!

although the course requires a great deal of work, it is all worth it in the end. In the clinical setting, Prof Avillo will push you to be your best, but it's not unbearable. Do the work before class and be prepared and you will do fine.

I have reason to believe that this professor is pure evil. She was not helpful, picked favorites, and is quite two-faced. I would not recommend having her as a clinical instructor.

Just because a professor pushes you to be your best does not mean she is the evil stepmother. Be professional, courteous and think before speaking and you'll be just fine. Although there were times where I could've used those care plan papers with sad smileys on them for target practice...

Very scary in clinical, makes you nervous, but isn't really all that bad and as you get to know her she's not that bad. def. makes you feel very very un-able at times but it only makes you stronger in the end. you will live through N210 its not so bad, worry about med-surg instead :)

One of the better Nursing prof. She is very intense and serious about her class. However, she lays a solid foundation for the rest of our nursing program. You will know when you are finished with her whether or not you really want to be a nurse. She is one of those professors that I will never forget.

She comes off as intimidating at first, but don't let her get to you. This is the first clinical course in the nursing program, and you're bound to be nervous. Don't stress yourself out over N210. Just learn all that you can, and don't be afraid to ask questions of Avillo. She knows everything.
