Rusty might come off as strict and harsh to some, but he's actually a really kind professor if you listen to his critiques. He only wants to see you do better, and he tells you very bluntly what you need to fix to get there. It might be frustrating at first, but his feedback is what you need to hear as an art major. Is not helpful at all and is very rude. He always has something rude to say to me just because I can not draw as well as others in class. So glad that I changed my major where I won't have to see him anymore.

Rusty is a very talented artist and stellar teacher - he's very clear about what he expects in class, and gives out challenging work with minimal instruction, letting students get creative. He can be hard on some people if they don't produce good work, but he's very understanding. He's quirky and has a good sense of humor.

I would not recommend taking any class with Rusty. He seems to be all cool and easy going the first day but his projects are pointless and he is very unclear at what he wants or what is expected. He also seems very bipolar and can snap in a second. I would n take another class with him.

This class broadened my artistic veiws! He effing rocks! Everything that I learned from him Ive been able to apply to my everyday activities. Hes a cool teacher, laid back and totally cool. He also looks like one of the pictures in the art book. Its the chapter on sculputres, you'll know it when you see it

I was tentative about getting back into art. Wow! Prof. Barwich really opened my eyes back into art...especially the history! He's realy supportive and give credit where credit is due. I highly recommend him!

A great class that tended to get a bit repetetive, but Rusty didn't let it get boring. I was very grateful to him for talking to me about my individual style and helping me to develop it. He even recommended some artists to research and let me look through some of his drawing books. He's a very helpful professor if you let him be. He discusses individual work more than Kell, so if you're looking for a lot of feedback Rusty is your man. An awesome class and professor who won't let you down!
