Ive noticed that a lot of my peers struggle with his classes, but he is VERY understanding and helpful, if you dont know what is happening go to his office hours for further clarification. If you miss an assignment you can tell him and hell almost always open it back up. He really is very knowledgeable and good professor, despite his methods.

Not an easy entry level language course but does a good job laying out the requirements and what you need to succeed. Some times there is a few homework assignments on BOLT that are due before you cover the material in class. Tests aren't hard but the Final was difficult since some of the vocabulary on the final I didn't know. He is flexible.

He doesn't explain things thoroughly at all, grades way too harsh for a 100 level second language course. I could never understand the material. There are multiple bolt quizzes a week that you're not warned about, 70 total and they are worth 25% of your grade. I missed only one class the entire semester and I am going to finish the course with a D.

About 70 online quizzes total & no warnings about them being given. Book is printed by him and given to you. Not organized. Falls behind in lessons, tests get pushed back (but you don't know until the class before). Every absence affects your final grade. Unfair in grading (you can keep up on quizzes and he will open them back up after due date).

Prof Springman is a good German teacher but really makes you work for it. That being said, he is very understanding and lenient if you go to his office hours. Will drop low marks and reopen quizzes if you got a bad grade. That being said, his online textbooks are confusing to use, but are free so you can't really complain. Would take him again.

Shouldn't be considered a professor because his German will probably be as bad as yours, if he decides to have class. Won't use the text book that you purchased and assigns homework that he doesn't explain and rarely checks, but wonders why you're not learning. Train of thought is like bar hopping, so if you want to take a German, sorry. Just run..

Comment:
This professor assigns homework everyday of the semester except on exam days. It gets annoying as the semester rolls on, but do it because your grade relies on those homework points. Also, he tends to never really know how to accurately explain something when the correct answer is vital. He always gets irritated when you don't know the answer too.

Worst professor I think I've had at Bloomsburg so far. He explains nothing and expects you to know everything. He never even gave us the professor surveys at the end of the semester. Unless you can basically teach yourself a foreign language or know it already, good luck.

I had him 5 TIMES! I got like B's and C's mostly. Doesn't use text books to save you $, but has like 14 kinds of e-media 2 give hmwk, u have to check. ForLang classes have lots of hmwk, but u end up learning alot if u care. His Lang&Cult classes = easy electives. He jumps around, gets distracted, & in over his head alot. Friendly guy, good classes.

This professor is AWFUL. This class is so random. You don't learn a single thing. He always says "It will all come together" but it never does. The course work is bull. He doesn't keep good track of grades. Always has random clicker quizzes. The readings are incomprehensible. Would not recommend this class. It should be dropped from the university.

Dr. Springman is a wonderful professor. If you can't make a deadlinefor an assignment, tell him! Email him! He's very lenient if you show initiative. I learned a lot from him, coming in uninterested of the German language. Gives exact exam study guides. Same for final. I'd take him again! Soooo enthusiastic, too! Just a wonderful professor in all!

These negative comments are ridiculous. Dr. Springman is honestly the best professor I've had at Bloom. For all that say his classes are boring, you're lazy. He is so passionate about his subject matter that he just doesn't know how to fit it all in one class. This is college, classes aren't supposed to be easy. He is an asset to Bloomsburg. Deal.

He was an awful teacher, didn't care one bit if anyone participated and was even there. Comparative Cultures Studies was so inconsistent. He didn't even go by the syllabus or even cover some material. The final was a messed up joke and I would NEVER recommend him.

Probably the most boring class I ever attended. He jumped from topic to topic and barely spoke about any. He assigns thirty minute videos to be watched outside of class atleast once a week, usually more. He is extremely boring. He is very nice and helpful, but just a horrible class.

Such an easy class. I bought all the books, but I never read. There are in class tests that also marks your attendence. The in class tests are based on notes you got that day. I suggest writing these down because they will be on your final. All tests are on blackboard and you get multiple attempts. The final is also on blackboard.Use your notes!!

He does not say what will be on the final at all. The assignments aren't hard, but do not take this course if you do not have time to read and do at least two assignments per week. He does not talk about due dates in class much at all. He relies on e-mail alot. I didn't like this class bc the due dates were unclear and I never got a break from work

Don't procrastinate his assignments. Lots of out of class reading, and the readings are garbled translations so they are hard to read. Goes a bit fast on slide changes. Helpful if you come to him though. He is very awake at 8 am compared to all his students. This is more of a Love it or Hate it class but again, lots of work.
