Dr. Gelfand is an awesome professor: knowledgeable, passionate about the subject matter, and very fair. His class is super enjoyable, straightforward (assuming you pay attention to lectures and read), and he is always willing to accommodate students that are somehow struggling. Really great guy.

He is very knowledgable! You are required to attend concerts and write small papers on them (easy points) just time consuming. He makes the class fun when he lectures. However the tests were difficult and require you to study the material.

I loved this class. He is a great professor, he knows tons of music, and he loves it and it really shows. He has a good sense of humor. If you go to class and go to his test reviews you can definitely get an A in his class. Plus he gives you tips for remembering which pieces are which.

Instructor Gelfand is a studen't dream come true: amusing, interesting, and simple. He makes an occasionally dull subject matter come alive and gives examples he'll tell you will be directly referenced on his tests, based on matching definitions to topic words. What a guy! Loved him! A+++!
