Comment:
Dr. Picone makes what might otherwise be a very daunting course, manageable. He has clear exceptions for the course and so long as you attend class and complete the assignments, you should be well prepared for his exams. He is very kind and genuinely wants you to do well. Make the effort- your grade will reflect it!

This class is taught exclusively in French, and he uses the entirety of class periods to go over homework and lecture. The content can get a little tricky at times, but as goes the French language. He's a pleasant character and very endearing. He makes the class bearable and makes a good faith effort to make phonetics as understandable as possible

Absolutely phenomenal human being and professor! He definitely knows linguistics, and his French is beautiful! I am so sad for UA that he is retiring soon!

Nice guy but has no idea how to manage class time. We spent the entire semester way behind schedule. Because he fails to teach the material, you are expected to teach it to yourself on the forever-long and hard homework assignments. He also hasn't graded homework for months, so I have no clue what my grade is. Note: IT 361 = SP 361 = FR 361.

I took this class to earn credit towards my italian minor. He is a nice teacher and some classes are interesting. However, you have to do hard homework. It is a completion grade but sometimes you will have no idea how to answer the questions. Also has nothing to do with Italian but still interesting.

He's a nice, funny guy. I really enjoyed his class. It's a Romance Language Linguistics class and included SP, FR, and IT students, so it was taught in English. It was an easy and interesting class. He is really good about telling exactly what will be on his quizzes and exams.

If you have the opportunity, take his Louisiana Culture seminar. It was one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken! Very hands-on and interactive, including dance lessons and a field trip! Fascinating teacher with very interesting pet projects.
