Great Professor. He is difficult and tough to approach but is approachable if you word your questions well. I think he holds a very high standard to his students that is a good or bad thing depending on how interested you are in what he is teaching.

I took his Intro to Met class to fulfill my 4 credit science requirement. I had zero interest in the field but a bunch of us from my major were taking it and they said it was easy. It wasn't. I went to him for help on 3 occasions. He just told me I needed to study harder. Offered no help at all. That in itself turned me off from him.

For sure plays favorites. Mandatory professor for lots of classes, so you have no choice to deal with him. If you aren't in his "clique" best thing to do is learn the material and take away his ability to screw you.

He comes off cocky to freshman, but if you're intelligent enough to make it to the core, he's much more personable. Probably my favorite professor from college. This major is supposed to be hard & if you can't deal with his class, you're not cut out to get the degree & definitely not going to make it in the real world as a meteorologist.

He is probably one of the best Meteorology professors in existence. His homework can be very strenuous though if you do not pay enough attention in class. His tests can be difficult as well, but they are directly related to the homework, so he is great at preparing his students for them.

I had him for survey. He is a nice guy but he definitely plays favorites. This is good in a way, he really tools on the kids he hates and it's hilarious (laptop!). This class is not overly hard and there is not a lot of work but he can be harsh when grading homework problems. Then again, you don't have a choice on who to take for survey, so enjoy.

Good lecturer, strange personality. He warms up a little once you get to know him. His grading is a bit harsh. Work hard and you'll pass, but don't expect an A from this guy.

One of the best professor's I had my 1st semester. He was also the toughest. While his homework was probably the hardest I've ever done, and the exams even harder, he was always available for questioning (either via email or in person). If you are serious about becoming a meteorologist, this is the best way to test.

Best professor at LSC, hands down. He's tough but fair, and may seem a bit unapproachable to freshmen. Some people who rated him poorly clearly were not motivated enough to do well in his classes. Grow up. College is not High School. Atkins' exams and homework assignments were VERY challenging, but his demeanor and energy while teaching made you feel prepared and interested in the subject matter... even while deriving equations. Consider yourself very lucky if you have this guy for Thermodynamics!

He is a very vindictive proffessor that if you cross him he will go out of his way to screw you. He's unfriendly and does not relate to the students at all. Besides that....he thinks he knows everything there is about meteorology....obviously false.
