Many group projects. Heavy weekly readings. Pop quizzes on readings. No exams. All lectures begin with an hour of students presenting their hw. The rest of the lecture is the professor briefly skimming over PowerPoint slides. Most of the material needs to be self-taught from the heavy reading. Group projects take a lot of time every week.

Peter is hard to understand at times but his accent didn't bother me too much. If you have any sort of programming background his class isn't difficult however if you've never programmed before it's pretty hard. The biggest problem is that if you email him with any sort of question, he doesn't answer but instead directs you to the TA.

I enjoyed the lecture, and I learn so many new things, it was an interesting class, the assignments need some weekly work, but it is worth it.

To be honest, his english was incomprehensible, and so was the TA's. The "Labs" after class took way too long, and his instruction was useless. But if you are good at learning using the book and other sources (youtube is a must) it's an easy class. Grading is incredibly lenient.

Avoid at all cost. One day of reading done on your own will be much better. He makes little sense when talking, has too much material on slides that he never advances, and has students that teach the class with him that you cannot understand either.

This semester, we have four class sites, CourseWeb, a class wiki, CiteULike, CoPE, and an online textbook. Various tasks must be done on some or all the sites each week. The assignments posted on the class site are disorganized. The grading is seemingly random. The lectures are pointless and consist of PHD students presenting research.

He's very friendly, helpful, and interesting. That said, expect pointless lectures that are way to general for grad school classes. Has too many projects going on at once, unclear grading, disorganized website and course schedule which makes it difficult to tell what is due what week, since projects, papers, readings, and quizzes all overlap.

If you want to experience a real low quality teaching and loose a whole lot of time at the same time then there's your guy. What he says has nothing to do with his slides, so you end up trying to understand his so-called English. You keep doing that until you realize it's just not gonna happen. Then you start regretting you didn't drop.

Very intelligent, really knows what he is talking about. Uses courseweb and POWERPOINT ALOT! I personally think things like CourseWeb & Powerpoint are destroying the college experience. This isn't a Java course, but rest assured you will spend ALOT of time working with it, so much that it might distract you from the course material. Decent class

Not sure if I learned anything in this course. The entire course is unorganized. Some things need to be submitted electronically, some need to be submitted in hard copy, and some need to be submitted both ways. Project descriptions were vague. He never graded anything on time, so you don't know how you are doing in the course. Don't Take it.

Just an idiot. The class was completely useless, we had about 15 projects going on at the same time and had no time to actually pay attention to the course material becuase we were so busy on the projects... I don't think i learned a thing.

Not very clear on all aspects, and goes ahead of the class before anyone knows what is going on. not that great. organized somewhat. at least he gives a good curve and bonus points, because everyone needs them.

He puts too much into courseweb and not enough into his classes. Impossible final, extremely difficult tests. Programs shown in class 100x easier than those you have for homework/tests. Hard to understand.

While being a bit hard to understand is an outstanding professor. Very fair. There's also a hell of a curve. Go to class and you should do fine.

I can't believe there's not more negative reviews of this guy - this class is a trainwreck if there ever was one. He routinely screws up with his computer presentation, makes much too extensive use of the courseweb system, and is VERY unclear. Don't tak
