I took History 1301 prior with him and I enjoyed his way of teaching that I decided to take him for 1302. Same concept, if you go into this class thinking you have time to play around, you won't pass. His exams are long, lecture heavy, read the book and use the syllabus to guide you for the exams. Don't make excuses and you will pass.

Professor Means does not return emails. He does not give feedback for essay questions even when requested. I was very disappointed in his lack of engagement on any level. If you work a full time job I would not reccommend this class be taken during a summer semester.

Prof. Means is an okay instructor. He is very lecture heavy which can be boring at times but he tries to make it interesting by telling stories of his experiences. There are 3 tests and they are lengthy and he does give you the terms that will be on the test. You really have to study to pass, it is challenging course.

If you are good at teaching yourself from a book, then take his class. If your not, then good luck. The syllabus has everything you're going to be tested over, but you need the book or else you won't get the information on the material. His lectures are stories, that barely give half of what is going to be tested over on the syllabus.

If you have a difficult time studying, you will definitely will have to do it for this class! Professor Mean's syllabus is clear , just taking 3 exams and 2 book test. He lectures for the whole class period, no power points, therefore, get ready to take notes.

I had Profeasor Means for History 1301. He gives the syllabus & it's pretty clear on what you're going to do for the semester. You have to attend because his lectures are a lot of talking & he doesn't put up any sort of powerpoints. There are only 3 exams & 2 book tests. He's a nice professor but I do not recommend.

2 Books essay exams, but nothing to hard as long as you read material and 3 lec. Exams notes are essential as well as the book. This class is not hard as long as you do the work.

I see there are many negative reviews on Mr. Means and I don't understand why. Yes, his tests are hard, but they're hard if you don't study or read the book. On the syllabus he includes what you'll be tested on so he's basically handing you they key to the tests. He is funny and he definitely curves the exams, so there's no reason for one to fail.

Mr. Means gives long lectures but he tells them as a story. I enjoyed his class. Only 3 tests in class and he grades them on a curve, even the final exam. I made A's on all 3 exams. As long as you study, REALLY study, and you show up to class and pay attention, you will pass. Enjoyed him so much I'm taking him again in the Spring.

Okay . He had my class rolling ! He is very humorous and judging by the others they enjoyed his humor and wit also . He was straight up with us . No one has ever made an A on his exams . He grades on a curve so that does help out .His tests are the most difficult at Mountain View College . If you want to be tossed a softball take another class .

I don't recommend this class. His lectures did not match up with his tests at all, so they were really pointless. The tests are extremely difficult and I didn't even know what chapters to read that would be over.

Professor Means' Lectures are interesting because he experienced most of the events in the lecture, but my goodness note taking is hard since he scatters his lecture. He makes you study a list of terms that lasts for eternity. Book tests are very easy though. honestly, you can do better unless listening to a terribly long lecture is your thing.

He is a great Prof! Extremely smart. Go to class, pay attn, read the 2 books and you will get an A. His deep knowledge of history with entertaining real facts not in the books left me laughing for the rest of each day. Tells you exactly what to learn for tests on syllabus, if you do not get an A you did not try at all. Knows the REAL history!!!!!!
