Comment:

Dr. Mackey is an excellent person but his economics course is not well taught. He has 2-3 quizzes weekly that are based on the chapter. He will have you take the quiz first, then have a lecture; oftentimes not about the recent quiz material. You will have to know how to teach yourself if you are taking Mackey's class.

Comment:

I think Mackey is a horrible prof! his lectures literally add almost no value. I had some great conversations with him and hes a funny guy. He knows the subject really well but that doesn't mean he should be teaching. The test/quiz's didn't measure my knowledge very well. This isn't just a lone student. LOTS of other students said the same thing!!!

Comment:

I've had Mackey for two classes now, so I feel it fair to rate him. To start with the overall judgement, I'd say that he's a great prof! His lectures are insightful and relevant, and he teaches with the goal of turning you into a good businessman, not a good student. Don't get me wrong. BE READY TO PUT IN WORK. He's tough, but it's worth it!

Comment:

Be prepared, economics is not an easy OR a happy science. You will find yourself utterly confused by test questions involving critical thinking and questions pulled straight from the text book. Pay very close attention in class. If not a business major, brace yourself. Mackey is an interesting teacher though and he loves economics. Don't give up!!

I have had Dr. Mackey for multiple classes and he is by far my favorite professor. He teaches with an incredible amount of practical wisdom and knows his material better than anybody.

Dr. Mackey was a great prof. His class is not to difficult. There is a quiz or two every week, so read the textbook thoroughly before each quiz. His test are very straight forward, they contain information from the text and from his lecture. Your grade is based on points, so try and get all the points possible.

Wit, witchery, and work ethic. Dr. Mackey is a riot every class and has a undeniable charm that will leave you wanting more. He structured this class, to a degree, on the real world. It's straightforward: show up, take copious notes, and study for quizzes or exams. If you are diligent, it doesn't take a first level brain to get an A in this class.

Make sure if you want to get an A on the exams, you go to the website on the back of the book and pay the ten bucks to use their study materials. take the quizzes and pre-test before each exam and you will get a much better grade. I did it and changed from a B to an A. trust me. do it

After hearing so many great things about Mackey, I was very disappointed in his class. Getting an A wasn't the hard part. Mackey has been teaching for so long that he seems to have lost touch with the real world of business. He is the personification of the phrase "Those who can, do, those who can't, teach."

Witty, wise and funny. His teaching style has the tendency to rub you wrong so be prepared to dislike some mannerisms off the bat. After time you will denounce your irritation and gawk at his intellect and genuine care for the subject. He is as shrewd as a fox behind his easy going style. Take him if you want to learn, not if you want an A.

This class did little to prepare me for what is actually required in business. Mackey is a teacher who seems unprepared to teach this class and relies heavily on book reading rather than class interaction and teaching.

This school is PACKED with smart kids and many of them fail this class. He's a nice guy but if your an average student you will more than likley fail this class. (i have heard their making it easer..)

Comment:

Mackey is a good teacher with a genuinely hilarious dry sense of humor. His explanations are understandable on the surface but sometimes leave you to connect the dots. Econ is a hard class because of the tests, which are almost all of the grade. Study very hard for the tests.
