Dr. Cate was arguably my favorite professor at SJSU. I took Anth 115 with her, and she changed my outlook on world culture. I particularly enjoyed the balance of lectures, that were engaging, and group work. She also supported me through any difficulties I faced and her office door was always open to me and my classmates. Trust me, take Dr. Cate!!

Dr. Cate is an excellent teacher and was very passionate about the material she was teaching. She provided class time to work on the group project and presentation, worked with each group, and helped if you asked. She was very approachable and seemed to want all of her students to succeed. I really enjoyed her class and highly recommend her.

The majority of her lectures were long and boring. There was too much information jammed into each lecture, plus lots of weekly reading. Everything is on the exams - from lectures, to readings, to videosmovies. Most of the class does badly, but she does curve. Weekly reading quizzes are extremely specific. Overall, a difficult class to get an A in

Prof. Cate is a very nice lady. There are a lot of boring reading assignments and a lot of in class movies, which are actually interesting. Exams are based on the readings and lecture so its good to attend. There is one group project which you have time in class to organize and you get plenty of time to put together. Overall good class

One of the best professors I've had. I was not very interested in the material which is my only regret. She taught the class well and was very passionate about the material. Very into feedback. Despite my lack of interest I learned a lot. Would highly recommend her class. Not the easiest A but worth the time.

Take this class. She's really nice and super easy. You have to use the books for the online quizzes and she allows half a page cheat sheet for the midterm and final. One group presentation, one paper, 1 midterm and 1 final. Literally show up to class and you can get a B

I don't know but this class was extremely boring and pointless for me. For the first time ever, I did not know what to study for the exams or what to expect on them. It's just the subject is not for me. It was really boring! I still managed to get a B since i attend all classes and do good on the paper, and project. But ANTH, never again.

Prof. Cate is very enjoyable. Class was fun and entertaining. Exams where not hard at all. MC with a flash card of notes. Reading was required but I didn't use the book at all. A couple days with boring Power points, but that's with every class. Take her for human sexuality and an enjoyable GE class

Professor Cate is a cool professor. She shows A LOT of documentaries, and her lectures are minimal, but definitely an interesting class. She had a super busy schedule when I had her, so I couldn't find her a lot of the time for help, but she was always on top of emails. It's an easy class if your present for lec. and documentaries.

Just do the readings and listen to her lectures. Otherwise, a very easy class. Only drawback: she has a tough time clarifying what she says or what she means on exam questions.

There is a lot of work for this class, but its worth it, and its not hard, just time consuiming. The group projcect (if you have a good topic) is interesting and fun. Take her!

Very cool professor and highly interesting course. Definitely informed me of cultural differences and integration that I was unaware of. The only difficult part of the course are the 3 research papers. Exams are simple to pass with sufficient study time.

Dr. Cate is very helpful & nice! Just make sure to go to her. Class wasn't real easy because there is a lot of reading. One midterm, 1 paper split into 3 sections and a final + participation points. Tests include T or F and sometimes only A,B,C multi choice. Papers are an easy way to boost your grade. Offers extra credit too.
