There are lots of short essays but they're not graded. They help with your success so I think they're worth doing, but never took one test. Somewhat tough grader, but cares more about your success and helping you get better any way he can.

I haven't heard great things about most 199 classes, but his is actually kind of fun even for someone who doesn't really like to write all that much. He genuinely cares about his students and encourages you to come see him if you need help with anything.

This class was very difficult for the fact that if you didnt read, youd fall behind very fast. not many grades in the grade book, which is a bittersweet thing great guy, hard class and grader

He is overall an amazing professor! He spends most of the class time telling stories about his life and relates then to what we are talking about in class. There is never a dull moment in this class.

This is a college intro to writing class, which is required so isn't always fun, but the topic is sports which helps A LOT. Good guy, gives lots of examples of good writing, gives lots of feedback.

The worst professor I've ever had in any class before. He brings his political views into everything, including the writings that you need to read. He has very few assignments and those that he gives out do not have a guide at all as to what to write. If you write what you go over in class you are sure to get a bad grade on the paper.

Lots of work in his class, but he also helps you figure things out on your own terms. Very available outside of class. Tough but fair.

He is a very opinionated man, yet smart. My biggest problem is he's often rude and looks down on you as a class. One on one he's a nice rude person if that makes sense. In other words he doesn't realize he's being a jerk. Give's a lot of unnecessary work but do it or he'll flip out. Didn't learn much other than that none of us know how to write.

His classes are mostly discussion based which is super helpful. However, he is very opinionated and will glare at you when you speak which makes you question your thoughts. He is one of those professors who will call on you even if you don't have your hand raised. He calls on people who do not participate so be prepared to speak.

No textbook, but assigned reading online every night that had to be printed out and brought to class. Basically only 4 essays were graded. I enjoyed the class. There were boring and pointless moments though. Peer reviews happened almost every class but werent helpful. Those took up the most time.

Class was pretty straight foward, a little vague at times, a lot of peer revision which I felt really didn't help at all, the gist of the grade was based on the final paper, grading I felt was skewed, I feel my final grade didn't reflect my work at all..would not recommend for another class.
