Don't take her class if you're not prepared to work. If you put in the effort, you will gain a great understanding of the material. Her expectations are clear from the beginning, and she doesn't take any excuses or bs. Her office door is nearly always open, and she's more than happy to help you if you're struggling.

Professor Valdes-Leon was kind outside of class but in class, she was very rude and intimidating. She would get very frustrated when students possed questions, especially if the question was based on the fact that we could understand her. She has a very thick accent. She does not give partial credit or make you feel confident in your academics.

This professor is the absolute worst! The think accent and poorly done cursive writing makes lectures difficult to learn from and decipher. Expect to be seeing a tutor once a week to retain material, cause thia course gave you only 3 exams towards your final grade. I needed this for my major, and I'll obviously be retaking it with another professor

The most absolute worst professor. If you've came to pass a class take something else. I came to take my last math class before graduating and guess what... I'm not graduating because of one math credit. The entire course grade is tests. I'm terrible at test so immediately I was at a disadvantage. save yourself the money and just don't.

This class was amazing and by far the hardest math course I've ever taken. Professor Valdes is the best math professor I have ever had. She is passionate and articulate in class. If you are willing to work, she will go above and beyond for you. No calculators allowed: this is college; take off your training wheels people and lean something.

I went to half the classes and still got a C+ so i think some people just suck at math and wont admit it... People who give her good ratings are kiss asses. If you know anything about calc then you can pass the exams because of her very fair scaling.

Silvia Valdes is a commendable teacher. Yes, she's strict and firm, but she's also fair. Is practically a polymath of pure math. Though a hard grader, she scales tests very fairly, appreciates hard work, and WILL work with you if you're a serious student. I recommend her if you're passionate about math. You'll get the grade you deserve.

If you want to bring down your GPA this is the professor for you. Don't bother bringing your $100 Ti-85 calculator you probably bought just for calculus class at some point in your life, you can't use that. Unless you already know what you are doing and taking this class is just a formality DO NOT TAKE HER CALCULUS CLASS!

She is a very confusing teacher and that is not just because of the language barrier. She interrupts as you are trying to ask a question. Many times students feel like she is attacking them when answering questions. She is very intimidating and that is hard when you are trying to learn. If you can choose another professor, do it.

Very nice lady and extremely knowledgeable as a mathematician, however you will need to teach yourself 75% of the content. Class concepts are very theoretical and often unrelated to homework problems. Tests are difficult, but curved. Few opportunities to earn credit in her class. High drop rate as well!

It's very difficult to get a good grade with Dr. Valdes, but I certainly learned a great deal about calculus, algebra, and trigonometry from this class. If you're more worried about your GPA than your math knowledge, I would avoid her.

I personally think she is a great teacher. You DO have a lot of work to do if you want to do well on the exams, and she does have a strong accent, but if you focus on the examples that she does in class and attend all of her lectures it's possible to get a good grade. PAY ATTENTION

Absolutely the worst math professor EVER. Her exams come straight from textbook problems, however, good luck getting them right, trust me she will find some miniscule error on your calculations....I would highly recommend taking the course with ANYONE else
