Prof. Wagner is a very kind professor. He genuinely cares for his students and cares about what he is teaching. He is a understanding grader and always welcome questions. Though the class does have nightly reading and homework, he understands if readings were confusing. Along with this he values participation and attendance over academics.

I had never taken philosophy before and decided to take a 300 level course. Prof Wagner worked with me because I showed that I was trying to understand the course work. As long as you try and minimally participate he will love you. I had an AB at midterm and didn't deserve it but he saw I was trying so he gave me a good grade.

Steve Wagner is the best professor I have taken at CSB/SJU. He's funny, caring, and is always entertaining. He challenges you to think, but as long as you do the nightly homework and participate in class he will always give you a fair grade. He is awesome! Highly Recommend!

Dr. Wagner is a great guy and is passionate about what he teaches! It is a pretty tough class. I thought it was hard because I am a very analytical, black-and-white thinker, but this was a great opportunity to broaden my horizons. Sometimes the readings are confusing, but come with questions to class and he will explain it until you get it.

Swagner is the man! I already miss going to his class every other day. He is challenging and does assign quite a bit of intensive reading, but the hard work certainly results in great new knowledge. He made me question everything, which I found so neat! He is awesome! Take him!

I have had Steve for a couple of classes, and have to admit that he has been one of my favorite profs at St. John's. I can see how some might come to think that his speeches can get a bit "rambley" but I think this is simply the effect of his genuine interest and care for what he teaches. Definitely inspired me to pursue my study outside of class.

Overall he is one great professor. He tends to ramble a lot, but in turn he makes the class easy. One of the things that I disliked a lot about him was the fact that he would easily break his lecturing with phrases like, "I hope you're ok with this," and "alright stay with me," and "hey, up here!" Yeah...it got to be bothersome!

Steve Wagner is an amazing teacher. His assignments are pretty short and simple. I learned a lot in his class because we would have good discussions since everyone came prepared. Steve has a lot of insight and is a very deep and inspiring person. He's a PERFECT teacher for this type of class.

Professor Wagner is the best teacher I have ever had. Take a class with him!! lHe is so passionate about the subject and gets the class excited about it too. Daily assignments are sometimes long, but I really enjoyed all of our readings. Just take the time to genuinely think about the issues. Wagner loves to just hear your thoughts

Steve is a wonderful teacher who does a great job at introducing the major issues in philosophy. The class is inspirational and one that I wanted to be at every day. Truly his only fallback was ease in grading (which really isn't a major problem) but it would have been nice to be pushed a little more.

Very passionate, very insightful. He rambles a lot, but he's usually the first to acknowledge that. The class material has a lot of potential to be fun and eye-opening, and Steve harvests that to the greatest extent possible.

Great discussions and a semi-easy grader. Can be too easy on some people who haven't taken the time to understand the material or are just stupid. But his passion for his job in searching for meaning/how to live a good life is easily transferred to his students.

Steve is the best professor I've ever had, period. I've never had a teacher so passionately and emotionally invested in the subject matter. He truly is concerned w/ how we "ought" to live (Moral Phil) and wants to share this exploration with all of his students. GREAT discussions.
