I understand this professor is incredibly smart and well qualified. Without a doubt those things are true. I also understand she's incredibly incapable of teaching material in a way thats easy to follow along or remotely engaging. How she thinks she can lecture the whole class while receiving participation is beyond me.

DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER, THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY. YOU WILL REGRET IT. This teacher actually needs to be looked over by the comm department and possibly fired. i have no idea why she's still a teacher here. She talks for hours about absolutely nothing. Exams are the worst, she tries to purposely trick you with the questions. WORST TEACHER EVER

Not the worst but absolutely not the best. She lectures the majority of the class and then gets upset about a lack of participation as if we wrote the agenda for the day. I guarantee you you will feel lied to when you see the test after reviewing the study guide. Biggest downside is the mind numbing monotony of her lectures.

This teacher truly doesn't know how to teach. She is rude towards students, and makes snarky remarks. She will lecture the entire class about absolutely nothing pertaining to the subjects we are learning. She also has us write three papers on the topic of "stuff." 10/10 would not take this teacher or class again if i can help it.

Cool teacher. Definitely clear in whats expected. Your attendance and reading the book are key to pass this class. All quizzes are "premiums" to help your grade at the end of semester. Basically you have 3 exams (heavy) and 4 applied writing assignments. Average class.

Dr. Avanzino is one of the best teachers. She has high standards for students, but offers all of the necessary resources needed for success. She is extremely clear during lectures and very helpful in office hours. Both her lower level classes and upper level classes are of consistently high quality.

She is kind of a control freak! And babies the class a little bit sometimes. but overall I liked this class. The book was interesting to read, this is the first time I have ever read a textbook cover to cover. She is super helpful just sometimes a little too much.

Avanzino is a great teacher. She makes sure that everyone in the class understands what to do on her assignments and where to find them, so you should never be lost in the class. I had no problems with her - she wants everyone to do well in her class. Just pay attention to what she has to say, read the book, study for her tests & you'll be fine.

A frustrating class, nothing to motivate me to do well. Susan has a negative aura about her. Very often witnessed her making students feel stupid or completely out of line when they had a legitimate question.
