Comment:
I know Dr. Merriman gets a lot of bad feedback for his teaching style, and I will admit, this is tough class with very lecture heavy material. However, it's not impossible. If you study hard and pay attention in class, you will do well. He is very good at giving feedback, and is available for help during office hours.

Comment:
This professor is really dry and sometimes it's even hard to hear him. I only went to the lectures because he passes out worksheets in class sometimes that aren't online. The only reason I passed was because I did all of the MindTap assignments and taught myself outside of class. Lectures are boring and all he did was read off of it.

4 exams all semester with online homework that is nothing like his lectures. The lectures, the online homework, and the exams are not similar to it can be very difficult to do well in this class. I was told if you passed Intro to Statistics you can pass this class with flying colors. This is not the case at all.

Treated this class like an upper-division class and as extremely hard to take as a freshman. No matter how hard I studied, my grade didn't reflect the effort put into this class. Very lecture heavy with 6 grades throughout the semester that determine your grade. Exam questions are very picky.

I had honors child psych and I was quickly disappointed when I found out my grade was based on 5 very hard tests & a research paper. Every class that isn't a test is a straight lecture going through the notes & gets boring very easily. Merriman is a really nice guy but makes his tests SO HARD, you can study & still struggle, A student getting B+.

Professor Merriman's classes are extremely lecture heavy and very boring, but he curves his exams a ton, so that helps a lot. Also gives extra credit opportunity.

Professor William is a very nice guy and is very respectful, although his tests can be very difficult, if you put the time into studying, you will do fine. Plus he curves his tests up to 20 to 30 points! If you have a question on the test he helps explain in detail what he is asking. There is also an extra credit opportunity. I would take him again

He is very unspecific, doesn't know what he is talking about, contradicts himself all the time. Plus side, he curves exams like 20 to 30 possible. In order to understand must read text. He is super boring, dont take this course if you can avoid it.

Dr. Merriman was a great professor. Although some of the lectures were long and some were boring, he made you interested in the subject. He also had the BIGGEST curves on tests. One test my raw score was a 73, but with the curve I got a 90. The test are difficult and you have to study, but the curve really really helps. Also the class was great.

Professor Merriman was a nice and understanding professor. If you have a question he will answer in detail. He tried to add a few jokes into his lectures as well. It's an easy class if you go and take notes. There is also one extra credit project.

Incredibly long lectures, the test questions aren't on quizlet, but if you leave them open and just search a word or two through the transcripts, you'll be able to find about 90% of the answers. The other ones, I just googled or left blank. He says the textbook is required but I didn't buy one and got a B+, so it's not as important as he says..

Terrible professor. His lectures are long and boring. Coming to class has became useless because he does not show clear explanations for the topics. The exams are ridiculously hard and the only extra credit is annoying. He has no mercy. He leaves your grades at the borderline and refuses to round them. Taking his class will ruin your gpa.

Taking child psych? Take. This. Class. Very easy. And he curves the test between 10 and 20 percent! A whole 2 letter grades! Except for the final. But it's super easy and he gives you guided notes.

He gives you packets with your notes half filled out. Exams are a little challenging but he curves them a decent amount. All the notes are on Blackboard so if you miss class you can just get them off there. Funny guy and I loved his class!

very good professor. He hands out guided notes in class and posts the powerpoints online. He provides study guides which cover pretty much all of the material that will be on the exams. Grade based on 5 exams, but he curves them. If you study, you will do fine in this course. He also provides an extra credit opportunity.

He is NOT boring. He is so nice and knowledgable. I rarely go to class because he posts notes online, but when I do, I love it. The tests are not hard if you study enough. I have a 96% in there, and I've gone about six times, if that. He gives you a study guide, lecture note outlines, and the tests aren't even that long. I would recommend him!
