Aaron Gerding may be a little difficult to understand - however, he has always been helpful in emphasizing that he is there to help students and he will always go through examples to clarify even the smallest confusion.

Probably the most underrated professor on here. His lecture isn't the best, but not as bad as other people described. He wants his students to succeed, so come to his office hour, it's super helpful.

Aaron Gerding did not do his job well. He rarely prepared for class, and didn't get through the material we needed.

Aaron Gerding is such a kind and caring professor. It's definitely a bit tough to hear him sometimes but he puts a lot of effort into the lectures and slides he presents. He definitely is a gem of a teacher if you come to his lectures and listen more closely. The grading scale is easy and he's very accessible.

I would not recommend taking any class with Aaron Gerding. He is a very nice guy and seems to be extremely approachable but I haven't learned anything from him. For starters, he is very tough to understand. He also does not do any in class examples and only teaches from a power point presentation. He doesn't know how to teach the information.

Aaron doesn't have homework outside of WebAssign which can make learning difficult. He is a little hard to understand verbally, but his lectures are great with everything explained by 3D diagrams. He cares about students, and you should ask him for help. Calc 3 is an otherwise easy course if you have passed M132.

In class he reads off of slides and he assigns homework through webassign. The combination of webassign and his teaching gets the job done of teaching you the material. Very nice man, definitely shows interest in his students learning the material.

He is a very caring guy, but his message at the end of every class is desperately unclear. He really just reads off slides to a powerpoint and tries to explain equations with confusing diagrams, but hadn't done a single example until halfway through the semester and even still did very few in a class that NEEDS examples.

Great guy. Really willing to help you and is good at explaining and giving examples. Try sitting in the first two rows, because he's kinda quiet.

Prof Gerding is good at giving examples and explaining concepts. I'm a big fan of his Python notebooks. He's a bit hard to understand, but if you sit close to the front you'll hear him well, no problem. Linear Algebra isn't a hard class if you do all the homeworks. Exams are exactly like the homework problems. If you do all your work you'll be set.

Had him for Calc 3. Was genuinely a nice guy, but... dude can't teach for his life. I honestly did better in the course by not attending lectures, as it's nearly impossible to understand him. However he does post online notes that are far less confusing than his in-class teaching.

Speech impediment and shyness makes him hard to understand, be ready to sit in the first 2 rows. Every class feels like you've missed the past month of classes.

Professor Gerding has a speech impediment (among other things). If you aren't a strong math student, avoid his section...His is by far in a way the least structured. For the rest of us, this man is a dream. He's interesting, brilliant, and enthusiastic. I found myself going to office hours just for a chat =). Nice guy.

Yes, I would second that remark. The course can seem disorganized at times but that is just typical UMass, and relates to the fact that the course coordinators for almost all the sciences here are terrible and should be shot. Aaron does a very good job with what he has got, knows the material, can teach it, and does his best to do so.

He teaches slowly and goes over every concept thoroughly. Students understanding the material may feel frustrated by this pace, but anyone having difficulty with the course will appreciate it. He encourages students to ask questions and is available for extra help anytime. Really nice guy.

Good. Little bit of disconect between course chair's section and our own at times, but this was true for all sections. Keep up! And since there are a zillion different sections, keep eye on chairperson as they often dictate the tone of the exams.
