Nice guy but his lectures could be sometimes boring. I liked it when he showed videos of his children to illustrate examples to us. You have to study for the exams because they can be a bit tricky.

Comment:

Professor Kersten is a great professor! His lectures are interesting, especially when he gives examples about his children in the infant stages! Theres a lot of information with details, so it can be hard on tests. The only grades are for three tests and a paper. Study a lot and take advantage of extra credit opportunities!

The only way I was able to pay attention was if I sat in the first couple rows. The professor was great but the material in the class was a little boring. You really have to study for the exams because you don't get graded on anything but exams and one research paper that's pretty easy.

Comment:

Dr. Kersten is a great professor I have taken him for 3-4 classes. He has 3 exams and lectures every class or shows videos that he discusses with the class afterwards. As long as you study the material (which is interesting stuff) then you will get a good grade. I definitely recommend his classes.

Absolutely loved this professor and class. He makes the material interesting and truly cares about his students. Willing to clarify anything and answer questions. Class is easy as long as you study the PPTS. Paper is also very easy.

Great professor honestly! He's very excited about the subject! Likes to show videos of his own research with his kids and how they acquired language! I bought the text book and used it a little then just stuck to his pp- they are VERY informative. it can be a lot of info! Flash cards are great for this course! tests are mostly conceptual! no EC

His expectations are ENTIRELY unrealistic. His test are inexplicably difficult and dwell from his actual in-class teachings and powerpoints. To put it simply,he only has 3 test and they all have nothing to do with what he teaches you. He does not allow for extra credit space. I suggest against this class if you want to keep that GPA up.

I absolutely loved this course and Professor Kersten. He teaches straight off of his PowerPoints, which he posts on BB. He also shows alot of videos of his two sons that correlates with the topic. There are 2 tests and the final which are based exactly on the information of the PowerPoints and one 3-4 page paper which is super easy.

Good professor uses he's kids in he's examples . Just extra long lectures , I felt he goes to long in explaining certain things. Over all not a bad class One research paper ( minimum 3 pgs) and 3 test , the final is cumulative

Very good professor!. He is extremely passionate and clearly loves what he teaches. Must attend class. If you do, you should be fine but will have to study hard for his exams are very very hard. Clearly, he puts a lot of time into them

Boring. Class is based on power point. Test are about 75% concepts from Book or the Study Guide for the Textbook and 25% Lecture notes/examples. The professor is very clear and fair. No curves. It is what it is. But, Boring. So if your brain needs stimulation this is class is not it. Study Guide for Textbook is beneficial.

Dr. Kersten is a really great professor. He is ALWAYS in a good mood and is very affable. If you pay attention to what he talks about in class, especially his examples, you will ace the tests. He even shows you videos of his kids to exemplify material in class. Overall, the class was very interesting!

Awesome professor. Knows a lot and is very enthusiastic. He explains his slides in great detail and gives a vocabulary study sheet for every test which helps. His final is cumulative but it's not that bad. Great professor!!! Definitely recommend him!!

Comment:

Keeps class interesting with videos of his kids to further his points, they get the point across and are quite funny. 3 exams which aren't hard considering he covers all but like 2?/exam. The only downside really is you have to write a 4-5 essay but he give you half the term to do it and if you turn it in early he offers xcredit. don't buy book.

Great professor. He's interesting, he doesn't drone on, he uses his children as real-world examples, and he posts all of his materials online. He even gives a word bank for the short answer questions. impossible not to do well, provided you listen.
