Comment:

Dr. Laurent's class is heavily lecture based however he does include some things to keep the class entertained such as jokes and things relevant today. There's no midterm or cumulative final. 5-6 quizzes and 1 paper on the topic of your choice . His quizzes are the main factor of his grading criteria but he practically tells you what will be on it.

Good lectures, you have 20 question quizzes every 2 weeks or so and the final is not cumulative its just 20 questions but double the points. You have only one paper which is super easy, hes super funny and only uses what was on the lecture for his quizzes. Just study

Comment:

Professor Laurent is great! His lectures are understandable and engaging. The lectures are key to passing the tests you'll have in class. There's a "big" essay towards the end but it's very easy and you get to decide the topic. I really enjoyed the class.

He is an amazing professor. His class is so informative & really teaches you the basics on psych very well. The structure is very basic & straightforward. Its nothing but lectures & quizzes but he makes it interesting & enjoyable. 20 question quizzes & a research paper is all you are graded on so you must do well. Quizzes are hard you have to study

Easiest class ever! There are 5 quizzes based only on his notes from the board, so it's impossible to make a mistake, and one paper which I finished in one evening and got highest grade. He also checks attendance. Dr. Laurent tries to seem strict, but in fact he is super easy and nice. Take him! You'll laugh a lot but also learn a lot.

I really enjoy his lectures, even at 8am. His expectations are clearly outlined and the tests reflect this. Great sense of humor.

Dr Laurent is one of the best professors I've had at SMC. I took him for the winter semester and actually learned a lot. The quizzes can be a little tricky at first but after the first one, you'll see what he wants from you. He makes sure you understand everything he is talking about with his great examples.

Everything you need to know is in his lectures. He tells you everything that will be on the tests. Final is not cumulative. 1 super easy paper. just go to class and take good notes/study and you'll be fine. Grade is based on a point-system so you know exactly what your grade is and exactly how you need to do on everything to get your grade

Hardest class as in knowing what to study, study the chapters not just his key terms !!! READ carefully sometimes you can circle the wrong thing. He's very tricky and sometimes forgets to cover some stuff on the quizzes.

Show up to class everyday, take the notes from the board, study the notes and charts and you should be good. Also start the paper early! Dr Laurent is easy to talk to and wants to help his students out!

I took him for this past semester (Summer 2016). Take notes, look for the terms, study them, and you should be solid for the quizzes. There are participation, 5 quizzes, a critic paper, and the final (same as a quiz) that you are being graded on.

Professor Laurent is so hilarious! He's got a kind of dry humor that makes the class worth going to. His lectures are so clear and you're only quizzed on whatever he writes on the board. Also, he writes down the page numbers that you need to focus on in the book which was super convenient. Take his class, you won't be disappointed.

Only 5 quizzes throughout the semester, each 20 points and multiple choice. Final is not cumulative and is just like a regular quiz except double the points. The only way to pass is to attend class and write down his notes. If you study the notes and look up terms he points out you should be fine, but REALLY study, the questions are tricky.

Great teacher and is hilarious. As long as you listen to him in class and ask questions if you don't understand anything you're good. He has 5 quizzes the entire semester and the final which is not cumulative and is essentially a quiz worth double the points. Read the lecture notes and only the key words he tells you to look up.

I took Psych 1 during the summer. Loved his class and the way he teaches!!! He's also really funny. His quizzes can be tricky sometimes but if you study you'll be fine. Definetly recommend him!

Comment:

He was one of the hardest professors I've had. Took him over the summer, every Thursday we will have a 20 question quiz. Does not allow makeup work or gives extra credit. He is very clear on what he is looking for. His lectures were fun until test time. Will have a research paper at the end of the class. I worked my but off and got a B.
