all my sheets i got back said i had an A and then at the end of the semester i got an AB because I made the mistake of saying i didn't really like photography. Al is distracted, unclear and often comes to class unprepared. Even if you don't like what you're doing pretend you love it and it's the best thing ever. Won't shut up about Berlin.

Very Passionate Teacher and Very Encouraging! He hates it when you don't show up or do your work... he isn't a hard ass about it because you should be the adult that you are and get to class and do your work. He is a great guy and easy going but attendance and participation and work completed will effect your grade!

Al has good intentions, but my overall opinion for this course is quite negative. All semester, I thought that I was doing just fine. In critique, he never had a bad thing to say. I found out at the end of the semester that he had many negative opinions about my work and ever more importantly (apparently), about me. This brought my grade down.

very passionate about subject but harsh and easily frustrated by those who aren't. flaky about communicating assignment expectations and is often late to class. willing to give help, but unforgiving critiques for art majors. SUPPLIES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN COURSE FEE(camera, film, paper). Al is a kind person but tough professor.

Alan has a passion for what he does and it leaks onto his students. He really pushes his students to expand beyond what they ever thought to create. Introduces lots of well-known and local artists. Is a great professor.

Alan is a great professor. Not only do you learn a lot and he pushes you but he also makes the class very comfortable. If you have a chance to take a class with him, I would recommend you do it!
