I think people tget tired in his class because he lectures for quite some time & has a monotone voice. However, I don't see how this can be a fair judgement against someone! That is simply his voice! He is an extremely intelligent man, with tons of knowledge to offer. He encourages student's to participate often. Class is so much better that way.

Long lectures and a monotone voice. You do the math. Notes were in tiny font in handout packets. Quizzes and a couple tests. I suggest reading the notes on your own time if you're not going to pay attention in class. I wouldn't say attendance was really mandatory.

Very nice guy. But his class was not for me. I've taken subjects much more difficult than this course, and did better. His method is to literally recite notes in front of the class, and then expects to be able to pick out each detail on a test. Tests aren't hard, but would be easier if in-class sessions were beter Not an effective teaching method.

Worst class ever. All we do is read his notes - which are full of spelling mistakes - which are a copy of a copy of a copy - horrible quality. Very unprofessional. Refuses to learn how to use the doc camera or power point. I paid good money to have him teach me and I want my money back. Shame on him! Shame on SUNY new Paltz!

He's a nice guy, but doesn't really belong teaching. He puts all of the lengthy and complicated notes on blackboard at the beginning of the semester and every single class is spent reading off of it. Not really any homework, one final paper as well as a midterm and a final. I'd recommend taking a different class to fulfill your GE.

I have not had one problem with any professor at New Paltz but this guy is bad news. He makes you buy like five books he written and they all say the same thing. The class is purely him putting his views on to the class. If you are looking for an easy class or teacher this is not it. Trust me take some one else, or you will regret it.

To be honest, he's not that great at teaching this particular class. He may be better in others, but this class is by far the worst class I've had a NP. He reads exactly from the notes, and so, in reality, you learn nothing. You're expected to know all the names and places. Good luck with that. I'm a CMD Major, and I really hate this class. BORING

Don't take this guy. You can't miss class more than 3 times but is pointless because he just reads from the notes he gives you on the first day of class. Talks low and you can't understand what he says at all. Grades unfairly in that he takes a lot of points off for little things. Notes are extremely detailed. Some quizzes are hard, some are easy.

He is such a nice man. Truly cares about his students. He is a little older and many people hold this against him but he is really a brilliant man. He will change the way you see things.

I loved him. He was an awesome teacher and a nice guy. I had him for Black History I, it wasnt such a hard class as long as you did the reading and studied for quizzes. I just wish he would have taught more during class rather than just have us do presentations. Plus, i had him in the morning and his voice would always have me falling to sleep loll

I absolutely love Williams-Myers; he was my favorite teacher at NP and I have taken 5 classes with him. He's very passionate about what he teaches about, and when he's passionate it definitely attributes to my interest level as well. I love him as a teacher and a human being and he will be the teacher I miss the most now that I'm graduated.

He really is a sweetheart, but I def didn't love him. I heard he's better in other classes, I guess the topic just didn't fit well with his teaching methods. He claims his class is a historical perspective, which it is a bit, but it is mostly theoretical. I felt it wasn't taught throughly and it was definitely hard to stay focused

I had Porfessor Williams-Myers for Race and Racism in U.S. History... Oh good god where to start? The man assigns outdated reading material (one reading was from 1951!), is not academically rigorous and makes logical jumps that are erroneous and dangerous. He often teaches by rote and constantly asks mind numbing questions. Don't take him!

Simply put he is my favorite professor. Taking my 4th course with him this semester. Very enthusiastic, nice, fair person all around. You can learn a lot from him. Even though I am a history major and not a black studies major, I still love taking classes with him. He is such a great person period. Take him if you can his classes fill up fast

You would have to be crazy not to love prof Williams-Myers. He is funny, knows his stuff, and is a fair grader who gives a very reasonable workload. Sometimes his test questions are based on very mundane details instead of the "big picture" but aside from that everything about his clases is great. TAKE HIM!!!!

Absolutely adore him! He is hysterical! Very good humored &although he lectures for the majority of the class, he keeps me interested. Reading the material isn't necessarily mandatory because he thoroughly goes over everything in class. Pretty easy quizzes &tests. Definitely going to take another class with him next semester!

Race and Racism in the US. He's very hard to listen to because he speaks so quietly. The syllabus is hard to understand, which makes it difficult to do the readings. Bu he is very nice.
