Comment:

Her class would not be as difficult if she was more direct with her lectures. They are all over the place, she constantly strays from the goal of her lecture. Half the time she is in a good mood and enjoyable. Then the other half she is very short or not in a good mood. I would not take again.

Had her for second half of my senior History research project class in 2015. I was pretty lost and got a lot of help from her, ended up finishing the 30 page paper at the last minute, got an A- and graduated a week later. She was awesome and she's kind of a cute woman tbh. Definitely would reccomend.

This is the first semester with labs. The labs suck. they are a waste of time, and are hard to understand. Average grades are 75%. The lectures are BORING and she goes off on bunny trails. The exams are hard. She gives you words and expects you to know everything about those words! Must know prior knowledge for participation points. DO NOT TAKE!

She acts like she is so far above teaching that she can't deal with studentsquestions in or out of the class. She has a tight group of brown nosers, and the sensible people can't stand her. She wants to give you a bad grade. Guilty until proven innocent. Don't take her class. I love history and make good grades, and I'm telling you: don't do it.

Going into my first semester at SIUE I wasn't sure what to expect. Thomason definitely knows what she talks about, but she does assign plenty of ready to do. I received A's in both but it was difficult, but not impossible, many of the students complained about grades,but most were the ones who did not show up to class physically or mentally.

I am currently taking a class with her, and it is not at all what I expected. If you take her class be ready to read every night and expect pop quizzes. Her lectures are boring and she goes off topic or gets too in depth with most lectures. Very unclear! I will never take another class with her again.

Prior knowledge of Roman History is a must for this course. Dr. T. knows her stuff, but there was just far too much material to cover and absorb in a 6 class days. Course needs to be at least 5 weeks long, 3 days a week, instead of 3 weeks long, 2 days a week. NOT an easy course if you are unfamiliar with ancient Roman history.

At first she seems like the worst teacher possible. very strict and asks for a lot but she is very knowledgeable and if you ask for help, she will help you. i didn't like her at first and now she is one of my favorite teachers! if you don't try then don't take this class she does not had out grades you have to earn them!

I took Ancient Greece with Allison Thomason. She does talk about the military, and philosophy, she also discusses art styles. Posts all lectures on line, plus study guides. All the readings are listed on the syllabus, even brought in ancient pottery for us to look at. Very good professor but doesn't hand out grades like candy, you have to try.

Good teacher, incredibly knowledgeable. The negative comments are just made by crappy students who aren't willing to put in the work - which you have to do in order to earn a good grade. Interesting class, she taught it very well. Bring up ancient history and her eyes will sparkle.

HORRIBLE. She doesnt seem like she knows what she is talking about. She seems to go on and on and on and on about nothing. Her quizzes have nothing to do with her powerpoint. SO BORING! I wouldnt suggest her at all. She isnt much on humor. Kind of like your high school teacher. Not big on humor at all. Just not a good pick!

At first I had no problems with her, even though her style of teaching is geared more towards archeology than history. I asked her a question concerning the midterm and she was very short with me. I don't skip class, I do the assigned readings so I was very put off by her attitude towards me. I will not take another class with her.

she is not somone who teaches history. she wold do better if she taught archaeology. her lectures are not related to test or quizez. she expects the non-existant perfect paper to get an A in her class. if you are a male and and love history saty far away from her classes. they will make you hate history.

Thomason was a fair grader. She was willing to answer any questions and always seemed prepared for lectures and discussions. Overall, if I had to take the class again I would take it with her.

She does not lecture well. She has a lot of energy and really loves Mespot, but she bored me to sleep more than once. Had a research paper with limited direction. I'll try to avoid her classes from now on!
