This class is a very easy topic (its basically basic psychology with a 'Chicano' twist). But, she and her 'scholarly guest lectures'are always hating on white people. It REALLY should be called Why We Should Hate White People 280. Oh- and she also only gives you an hour for two, 3-4 full page, CITED, essays and 50 multiple choice qs for the exams.

At first, I was very nervous to take this class. After taking this class and receiving an A I would recommend this class to anyone. She offers more extra credit than any other professor I have had here at U of A. If you show up, study the notes and book, you will 100% get an A. I really enjoyed taking this class with Dr. Romero.

AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! Horrible class, I received an A but she talks down to students in the class, requires useless group work, and lectures are dry. Tests are ambiguous covering too much information and she is not engaging or stimulating in her lecture. Information is interesting but Romero makes it completely boring, DO NOT TAKE WITH ROMERO

Romero is nice, but a bad teacher. She doesn't go in depth and often doesn't finish her lectures. Her teaching style would be much better suited for a high school setting I think. The tests were easy and there's a lot of useless group work that makes you practice writing 5 paragraph essays. Her grading is inconsistent. I expect more from my profs.

MAS is Chicano Psy and of course you're going to listen to Chicano's work HELLO. Dr. Romero is approachable and student learning is in her best interest. Class participation is encouraged and you need to know how to play well with others. I enjoyed her class. A's must be earned as simple as that.

Class is easy and materials are easy as well. The only problem is that when she isn't ragging on White people in her lectures, she brings in "community scholars" to rag on white people as well. Should be renamed "we hate white people" 280. I agree with the person who posted before, DEFINITELY for Mexicans with an inferiority complex.

In my class she said that all Chicano Psychologists had to be 100% Chicano, they had to research Chicano issues exclusively and they had to concentrate their research efforts on taking power from the whites. That is exactly what Hitler did in the 30's. Avoid this class unless you want to be indoctrinated into a Chicano supremacy group.

Dr. Romero knows her stuff and tries to make sure that all students participate in group discussions. She also uses alot of examples to support the information she presents in class! Fun and interesting class.

She'll like you if you agree with her point of view. Kinda a feminist so act like you are and agree with her and she'll be nice to you. Kinda disagrees with males more because I guess they disagree with her p.o.v.

I enjoyed Dr. Romero's Mexican-American Studies course immensely. She has all the qualities of a good professor: lectures clearly and concisely; helps students whenever possible; and is enthusiastic about teaching. She's also quite gorgeous.
