Comment:

Dr. Farrell is a great person and a wonderful professor. Her class is tough and she is very particular with what she is looking for but you will get out exactly what you put in. She is always well prepared for class and organized so you know what to expect and she expects the same from you. Make sure you ask and answer questions in class.

Ann grades by her own views and that is it. If you reword what she is saying she will take off points. For example: equal portions vs same size parts. If you say one and she is thinking of the other then it is wrong. She is a tough grader and overall not a very helpful professor when it comes to helping students or being very professional about it.

I enjoyed this course with Dr. Farrell. She gives you extra credit opportunities for each exam (+6 points) which will really help you out if you don't do well. She was very accessible outside of the classroom and always willing to help. Her exams are pretty tough though & sometimes explanations are confusing. Overall good professor!

Dr. Farrell is very clear with expectations for exams as she gives key topics for each exams. Encourages you to think through reasoning to get a clear understanding of geometry so that you can turn around and teach it. Gave a few, substantially extra credit ops at the end of the semester. Assigns a decent amount of homework and grades selectively.

I loved geometry with Dr. Farrell. I was challenged to think instead of lectured to memorize material. I thought her tests were fair, even maybe a bit easier than I expected after hearing how difficult of a grade she is. Definitely a good role model for middle school math teachers. She gave out very few simple answers, but asked a follow up ?.

Would not take her if you can avoid it. She knows her stuff, but doesnt know how to actually apply it in the classroom. Shes one of those PhD's that has never actually been in the classroom besides studying children. She does not explain things clearly, and makes you figure things out on your own more than explaining how to do them.

Comment:

Farrell has a sweet voice, but beware of condescending undertones. She is the toughest grader I've ever experienced, her tests are ridiculously difficult, and there is little clarity in the syllabus. Homework has little to do with the test questions. DO THE MYMATHLAB PROBLEMS OR YOU WILL LOSE A LETTER GRADE.

She is the hardest grader ever. She assigns a TON of homework but only grades like 5% of it the test have like 7 questions but you don't give the answer the way she wants it you get it wrong also the syllabus will say that you can mix X number of days before you grade drops to a D what she doesn't tell you is for every day you miss you lose points.

Farrell is very anal when it comes to grading. There are 6 HW assignments and 3 tests, all of which seem to be easy but the tests only have a few questions worth anywhere to 8-15 pts each. This means if you mess up on ONE problem, your grade is already one letter grade lower...for this reason alone I would say avoid Farrel if you can.

Loved the professor, but the class was hard. The book is only a workbook and does not teach you how to do the problems. Only 6 homework grades and three exams. She is always willing to spend extra time helping you. What she teaches you in class may be completely different than what is on her tests. Test are really long/hard. Smart teacher though!

I took a summer course and it was very confusing! We would do one thing in class, and then have homework problems over something we had never covered. She only gave an hour for our midterm....4 out of 22 finished! The mean score was a 67%!!! That should tell you something. Hard test and NOT enough time to take it do not = a good professor!

I was in Dr. Farrell's classes in the 1990s. Her classes and tests were hard and required a lot of writing and explaining, but made me a better teacher than I would have been without her guidance. I am now in my 12th year of teaching and still appreciate Dr. Farrell's caring and professionalism. I try to model Dr. Farrell?s teaching methods.

Dr. Farrell is a really nice person but her class time is absolutely BORING!!!In her problem solving class its just a final. We spent way to much class time working on 1 word problem with a simple answer. I feel like you only need the book to get the get the word problem you will be working on for homework..All hw answers will be atleast 3 pages

Great teacher. Really cares about her students. Will read papers ahead of time and is always willing to meet with you to discuss things. Only downside is not alot of grades-six homeworks and two tests(midterm and final). Tries to make geometry fun and relatable but geometry is a very boring subject.

She is MUCH better in this class than she is in geometry. This class seems VERY pointless to me, but it's an easy A or B whichever you prefer to get. I just don't understand the point of working on one big problem for pretty much 7 weeks! She keeps you the whole time, but if you're lucky she'll have conferences to go to & some classes cancelled!!
