Comment:

Barry is a great and funny guy but his class is all kinds of dry. His lectures are disorganized because he just loads a bunch of small font paragraphs on his slides and expects you to know it. Only graded on three tests which are fine if you study but there are always questions you have no way of knowing bc it was so minor and barely mentioned

Comment:

Barry is unbelievably fun. He's a funny guy, both on purpose and accidentally. A two hour class of his turns into 30 minutes of material and an hour and a half of ranting. If you don't feel like class that day, bring up a tech company and he'll go off. Great guy, open to talking with you about how to improve your work and such. Take him!

Barry is genuinely the best professor Ive ever had. He spent an entire two afternoons giving me a crash course on everything before the final because I was struggling.

BARRY MARSHALL IS MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR EVER!!! I had him my freshman year in Hist. Media Arts I and I cannot express in words how much he helped me. I was very very unsure of what I wanted to do with my life and his lectures changed everything. AND he's an easy grader! He is amazing. His stories are amazing. His accent is amazing. Take his class.

Barry is a fun guy. He's a cool guy. A lot of my friends who had him as a substitute like him. he'll go on tangents almost every class, but its fun to listen to. It's an easy class and you don't need the textbook, as long as you pay attention and take notes you'll pass.

It should be an easy A. You can manage without the textbook. Marshal has a quirky sense of humor. He will go off on a tangent almost every class. There is an extra 2-hour lecture for this course designated for screenings. It can be exhausting. No participation required. If you are into early cinema until 1965, enjoy! Otherwise, good luck.

We just watched movies and talked about movies. Every week we had to write a paragraph about the film we saw in class and we had to make some power points on 2 of the films we saw but besides that there's no work. This is a relaxing class where you get to watch some old movies you've never heard of. Plus Barry is a great guy.

Look hes a cool guy, but I took this class before and the point of media history is to see what people have done before to improve your work and appreciate the art. Only 3 test isnt how you do that, fail one youre screwed and theres no possibility of working hard in other ways (like essay or behind the scene work, etc) to make it up. But cool g

Barry was quite the character! But in such a good way! Each day of class he just got more awesome. He had so many personal anecdotes that were really awesome to hear. Fascinating stuff! There weren't a lot of grades in his class, but if you know the info, you should be fine! Highly recommend taking any class with this guy! Barry!

Barry is a really awesome guy, but Speech Communications is pretty dry. He's easy to get on tangents and will talk for hours about his time in high school and college (and when he was in a band). It's pointless to show up but he is pretty good at making everyone laugh. Definitely an easy A, but worth the memories.

Funny, very smart, lots of good, valuable information. Only had two tests plus one essay that counted as a test. Lots of reading homework, but you can still pass if you pay attention in class and take notes.

Barry is really nice. He can get on tangents that have nothing to do with what you are talking about, like stories from his youth and whatnot. Honestly I didn't really learn much about public speaking besides the Ted Talks we saw in class. But it was a nice low-key class, and Barry goes easy on his students which was nice.

I took 2 classes w/ Barry (industry/copyright) & I loved them. It's clear that Barry loves to teach and it's a real treat to hear him talk about his experience in the music industry. Class can seem disorganized but it comes together & he gives study guides for exams. Barry is funny, engaging, encouraging & truly knows his stuff.

Awesome class!! Barry knows his****. He is so experienced in the film of music so this class is kind of more focused on music than film, but that was perfect for me! He plays awesome music in class and good TV shows. The film choices could be better, but his lectures are actually the best part of the class. He makes everything interesting!

The most liberal professor, who will be in your face about his politics and even argue with students when it is irrelevant to the class. He was kind of difficult to learn from. Not the best, but not the worst.

B-Marsh loves to ramble. He once talked for 45 minutes straight without fielding any questions or pausing to write down notes. Just talked about Media history. Obviously he's very knowledgeable if he can do that, but it does wear on you. You really don't even have to take notes because he gives you study guides before each exam. Overall nice guy.
