He is a great teacher ! His instructions are clear just when it comes to test or projects he decides to grade unfairly, for my final i messed up on a page but i had 100% on my other pages of the test but yet i got an F, we had to do a fox story and he was very picky when i had try my hardest,i don't like his grading system it is unfair .

I am a very serious student, with a 3.8 GPA. I took this class because it calls my attention. However, I am very upset because this teacher doesn't care about their students. I took online class. He never answer email, never answer questions, not discussion board for students, no table contents nothing! no way to have communication. I wrote an emai

Bill is an awesome teacher. I had both ASL I, II. Also, classes in Intro to Deaf Culture, Implications to Deaf. He is by far, the best ASL teacher they have at Mesa. He is the "Master Teacher." Not only are his classes interesting, he truly enjoys communicating with his students. He has 2 Phds! Very funny, caring. Wonderful human being!!

Dr. Clary is a great teacher. He has a wonderful sense of humor, personal stories, and encourages you to learn. There is alot of information that is covered. Show up to class, study, and participate. He will stop and respond to questions. He's a sweet person too.

Friendly but unable to direct the class effectively.Much time wasted.waiting,chatting,etc.Unreasonable amount of reading.10 chapters/night,3 texts. No focus 4 the tests, just read and hope you finish, understand and recollect specific names, dates, events, details.I emailed with 3 questions & the reply was "okay"...not an answer to any of my questions!

I don't understand why this teacher keeps getting AMAZING reviews. No one anywhere mentions that the teacher is Deaf! If you yourself do not understand sign language, stay away from this class. He is very likable man, but dealing with a translator and not being able to talk to half the students leaves you feeling isolated and the class impersonal.

Absolutely fantastic professor, and just a wonderful human being. I have never developed such a passion for something so quickly, and he made such a huge impact on me and my future career. He is very patient, clear, and so much fun! A decent amount of work, but completely do-able and really helpful if you wish to use ASL in the future. GREAT CLASS!

Best prof ever. I had him last year and continue to remember all he taught. The other ASL teachers I have had do not compare to his ability to bring you in to what you are learning. Also had him for Implications of Deafness, hard class but his stories and experience make it worthwhile. As I said, he's the best teacher ever. Very helpful.

This class will keep you busy with all the assignments such as 8 hours outside class signing with a Deaf person which has to be documented. Also, 5 short essays, 9+ hours of videos with a 6 page essay, 3-4 tests and you have to make a video performing the fox story. This class is time consuming but you learn a lot. Bill is nice and professional.

I have taken ASL classes from other prof's and Bill is by far the greatest teacher. I learned far more from his teaching methods than any of the other prof's. He is truly a one of a kind teacher, you will not be disappointed if you take his class. You will learn a lot and be inspired. His methods should be a model for other prof's to follow.

Bill is one of the best and most inspiring teachers I have ever had. If you want to take ASL, TAKE FROM HIM! I have heard negative things about other ASL profs at Mesa, but only great things about him. He is a genius, very interesting, makes learning fun. If you participate in class, the tests are easy, he is very straightforward.

Very fun teacher! He does lots of activities/games that repeat the signs so it makes things easier to learn. Make sure to complete hours (had 5 hours for ASL 115 & 10 hours for ASL 116) and do the reaction reports. In ASL 115, we had to go to a restaurant and sign...very hands on! He has amazing patience and is funny at times.I highly recommend him!
