Bill Cole is an outstanding instructor - I cannot speak highly enough of his class. He designed his course in such a way that students collaborate and work together to prepare for the lecture material, and he encourages students to help one another. His lectures are engaging and worded clearly, and he provided excellent answers to student questions

I had Professor Cole for CSCI12 and I enjoyed his class very much. He is very knowledgeable, and manages to lay out the material in a very relaxed and easy to understand manner. Be prepared to read a little bit, as there is a short quiz almost every day, but if you do so you'll be fine!

Bill is a great teacher, he has a teaching style that really resonates with me. He is very homework light and he grades it in class stopping for questions and answering them in depth. He ties the chapters together ensuring that you learn the new and retain the old material. Furthermore he prepares students for whats going to be on the tests.

He has clear grading criteria and gives something really "similar" to the tests as homework a week in advance. Of which these tests can be started really early before class. Just show up, and do your work. He make's it fairly hard to fail. If you don't show up, don't work, you will fail and you will not get the material and this class can be hell.

He's really laid back. He explains the material well and gives you a definite understanding of what you need to pass the class. A good chunk of your overall grade is determined by daily homework quizzes and labs (both can take up some time), but he allows groups to work together on both labs and quizzes. Exams are open note/open book.

CSCI10 was easy. I was a programmer in a past life, so it was to a point of being boring for me. If you show up to every class, and do the work you're supposed to do, you'll do great. Most of the quizzes are based on the homework assignments given. Do the homework and you'll have a very easy quiz. If you fail, it's on you.

Overall good teacher, you can tell he actually cares about teaching people. The *only* thing I didn't like about his class is he doesn't leave a lot of room for creativity, at the same time I understand it was Web *Programming* and not Web *Design*, but still, his assignments are like following a shopping list.

Quiz every class period. Quiz is usually the homework assigned, so if you've done the homework, you will most likely have done the quiz. Lecture covers homework, occasionally additional material. Tests are part programming, part multiple guess. Multiple guess tests are open book, but still need to know material. Occasionally gives extra credit.

Professor Cole is a great teacher for computer science. He will assist you with any questions you may have and will even crack a joke once in a while, but I find that I learn more from the book than I do from him. The tests are very hard and the homework is expected to be completed before he gives the lecture on how to do it.

Best teacher I've ever had! I took two online classes. You have to read a lot and do all assignments to get a good grade. And when he says it's going to get harder he really means it! So, don't try skipping tutorials. I recommend taking class with him since he is helpful, good grader. I would take all classes with him if it was possible!

Online class wasn't easy. It takes time (at least 2 days) to get answer for a question. Programming was way more easy than questions on quiz. Time is limited. Hard, professional language. Work hard and you'll get an A.

Daily quizzes which are just the "not required" homework assigned the previous weekend aren't hard as long as you read the text and take the time at home to do them. Reading the text is extremely important for passing the midterm and final (the only exams). The lectures (by powerpoint) can be somewhat boring if you aren't interested in the subject.

He was great and made the subject interesting. He gives an open book, timed quiz at the beginning of every class. Don't underestimate those quizzes. He only has two exams and thats what killed me I bombed the first one and then is wasn't possible to get an A. Overall, great teacher!

He is a cool teacher. There are quizzes each class which is how he takes attendance. more than half the time he gives everyone 100% . The labs were easy, he puts the EXACT code online for you to use. I'm not sure that i learned a whole lot because of how easy it is to get by. Be warned if you don't do the reading the midterms will kill your grade

He is the best teacher I have ever had. Quiz every day that is open note open book with a partner. He gives everyone 100% on quiz's quite often. His midterm and final were open note open book and very easy. This class is very easy but also extremely useful and you learn a lot. Best CSCI 12 teacher available!

Extremely easy class. All the quizzes are from the back of the book, you use the book AND a partner to take the quiz. He takes attendance by the quiz, so as long as you have someone to write your name on the quiz, you're good. The labs are easy, you just copy him. He's extremely friendly. For exams, outline all the chapters!!

PROS:Very laid-back and friendly. Will help you if you ask. Lenient on deadlines. Tests and quizzes are open book so there's plenty of opportunity to boost your grade. CONS:Lecture style is 90% Powerpoint which is boring. If you really want to learn you need to go to lab sessions or you'll be lost. Can't miss class or you'll lose quiz points.
