Dr. Beard is very condescending and will make you feel stupid if you ask questions or get an answer wrong. She really isnt clear about assignments she post and her lectures last 10-15 minutes and you just sit in class doing nothing. Honestly, her exams are fairly easy because its open book, open note. Attendance is not really mandatory.

Comment:

Dr. Cheryl Beard is a great person but shes not a good teacher. Her lectures are very long and boring, towards the end of the semester attendance is not mandatory, all we did was sit in class at watch a video on our phones. The tests are open note and open book, easy A for that. She will not accept late work, so be aware. Has no motivation.

Took Pols1 and 2 over two semesters. VERY liberal professor, questioned conservative students more. Willing to admit if she makes an error. Lectures not relevant to exam. Come early to exams/write very fast. Up to five pg "short" answer exams. Pols 2 has about 10 pg/week or 40 pg semester. Do your outlines from the start. Sometimes condescending.

I took this class and as long as you are try she will be willing to help you. She likes to be called Dr. Beard, and will correct you if you call her professor. She is a great teacher and the class is enjoyable. Make friends in the beginning because there are several group projects and you get to choose your members. Dr. Beard is my favorite profess

Prof. Beard is a doctor I personally revere highly. She gives you feedback. The class (PolSci 1) was as difficult as any other class. She allows you to do extra credit. Gives you videos to watch. And tells you what to study and go over when a test is coming up.

First day, man she looks tough, but she slowly opens up to diligent students. Tons of extra credit every class and test are all open books/ notes! (buy the printed version of her required book. ) Put in the effort, time and be ready. She's a real sweetheart to hard working student.

I adore Beard, I understand she's not everyones cup of tea but I think her assignments are really fun. The class discussions were really fascinating and I loved hearing her opinion about current events. I may be biased since I am a poli sci major but her class made me really interested in foreign affairs.

boring professor. does not seem enthusiastic about anything. tests are easy b/c they are open book and open note. so just copy word for word out of the book and you'll get an A. its not a hard class, but she is not a great teacher. lots of extra credit, but nobody does it because it's not necessary. I wouldn't take her if you really want to learn

She lectures for only 10 min and then you just sit for the rest of the period. tests are open book you still have to write a lot for each test. Don't let that scare you. I bombed the first test and ended up with and A. You can get above 100% on her tests as long as you write something. She makes you feel dumb if you ask questions.

Professor Beard for Poli Sci 2 is amazing! The homework is very heavy, the homework is SO MUCH work but that does not mean you cannot do it. You just need to try your best. Poli Sci majors should take her for this class because she gives the basic information you need to know because as a poli sci major you need to know how to read ALOT. GREAT PROF

Honestly you can manage to get an A if you just read and highlight the physical textbook. Her tests are all open book/ open note and you can just copy word for word what the text says. Even if you make up an answer she'll still give you full credit. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities.

Easy Class I have ever taken she is super Easy all you do is copy and paste Answers from book to your test. Must have the book in physical form. Don't buy the book just print them our not worth paying $70 buck for the ebook and then forced to buy the physical book for another $20.

A ton of work, but worth it. She gives TONS of extra credit, and if you participate in the lectures, she will always help you out grade-wise. Shes so sweet, and very knowledgable with a PhD in the field of political science. I would not take if you arent a political science major though, seems pointless. But, very great class otherwise.

i took her class this past spring semester at 7:00 AM (biggest mistake) the class is honestly a joke. the majority of the time we just sat there while she read our assignments that were due that day. roll is taken but youd only HAVE to come to class to turn in said assignments or take tests which are open book and notes but theyre LONG.

Professor Beard is all about lectures on powerpoint open notes for tests and quizzes. Her tests are writing long sentences for one question. You must read the book. But she is very helpful when asking for your grade, help on an assignment. She is a very tough professor with such great knowledge for politics and she's amazing in teaching.

DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She is very rude. A student asked the professor for help and professor Beard said tell me what you have I am not going to read it. The way she teaches is she lecture on some parts of the chapter and you go home and read take notes on the rest. The test are open notes and open book everything in essay paragraphs tho

I've more than 50 UC-transferable units under my belt (GPA 4.0). As different as the teachers I've encountered at PCC have been, never experienced anything like her. Rude, doesn't teach, makes factually incorrect statements and her tests are not about what you know but how fast you can write. "Incompetent" doesn't come close. Avoid at all costs
