Comment:
Prof. Rowe is definitely a character. You will sort of fear him in the beginning, but later you will learn to enjoy his sarcasm and humor. However, like others have said, its literally impossible to get an A in his class, but make sure to still try your best because you will earn his respect through your work ethic. A lot of teaching yourself tho.

Veston is a great professor but it is almost impossible to receive an A in his class. He makes that clear from the beginning because he makes you earn and work for your grade. Reading the book is key to doing well. He gives pop quizzes but warns you about them at least the class before. He is very respected and helpful if you ask him for help.

He may be decent for other classes, but for mine, Intro to PR, he didn't teach at all. Telling the class to read the textbook, then giving one pop quiz, then getting mad and canceling the two classes right before the midterm because people were discussing some questions they had about the test is not teaching. Be prepared to teach yourself.

Veston is by far one of the best teachers at Chapman and in Dodge!! He truly cares about the students, wants everyone to do well in his courses, and grades hard but for a good reason! He is one of the few teachers to be completely transparent and proves to be a mentor to each of his students!

You can tell Veston is a professional in the field but not so much as a professor. He never taught anything and expected us to learn the material straight from the textbook . We had to do a PR crisis presentation the first month without even knowing about the subject! We then spent the rest of the semester in assigned groups doing a PR pitch.

Veston is one of my favorite professors at Chapman! He has worked in the field, so he knows what he wants and what is good. You do a current event presentation alone and a big PR campaign in a group project. He also does pop quizzes but they are easy! All you really have to do in the class in skim the book. If you love PR, you'll love him!

Veston is definitely who to take for PRA231 if you're a major/minor. He's one of the key faculty and is a good person to know within the program. The class was fairly easy, just reading from the textbook, a few tests, and a final group project. If your class is quiet and you participate, you'll get on his good side!

Veston is a great teacher and makes you work hard for your grade. The course was challenging for me because I am not a fan of public speaking. He gives you a decent amount of homework, just don't procrastinate and go to him during office hours! Overall, it was a great elective to take for PR & Ad majors.

Did not enjoy this class or professor. He rarely lectured about the material and we listened to student presentations all semester. He told us the final was cumulative when it actually only covered the second half of the semester. It felt like he didn't want to teach that class. Take it with the other professor if you really want to learn about PR

One of my favorite professors from my time at Chapman. Tough grader. Great sense of humor. Slightly scary. Creates an interactive class environment. Gives reasonable midterm and final. Will walk out of class if students are being disrespectful. If you are planning on taking a class with him get ready to become best friends with your AP Stylebook.

I've taken many classes with Veston and totally love him. He's a tough grader, for sure, but you really get out of the class as a better writer.

Heard he's great for Writing for PR, but for Principles of PR, it's nearly impossible to stay interested. He never lectures, we all just listen to group project presentations for the whole semester, and he expects you to read everything. No study guides, & no opportunities to get A's. In principles of PR, you have to learn everything on your own.

Veston is a wonderful professor and has a great knowledge of public relations writing. Take his classes if you are a PR major, they are some of the most useful classes Dodge offers. He is also a really nice guy and you would do well to become friends with him,

Best teacher PR/Ad program has at Chapman hands down. He actually cares about getting students jobs, not just promoting his own views or making students into his "disciples." Ask him for help if you're stuck, he might be sassy but he's willing to give it. What he teaches, everyone can learn - horrid writers to good writers. Take his classes.

First of class comes off as a hard ass, but is really actually a very quirky and nice guy. The class requires a lot of assignment but its not just busy work. All of his assignments, quizzes and tests make you learn a top. Great class with a clear and direct teacher.

Veston might very well be the best (and most honest) writing teacher you will ever have in your lifetime. You can't fake your way past this guy, he actually cares about how well you do. His humor makes class worth attending and very laid back. Be prepared to do loads of writing. That's the only way you can really learn.
